  • If you think the wind turbines you drive by on the interstate are big, you haven't met GE's Haliade-X which puts them all to shame. Check out this quick video for all stats on the Haliade-X including the fact that this thing has a 38,000 m2 swept area which is as big as 7 FOOTBALL FIELDS.

    Great video, man!! There is a LOT of misinformation about wind farms out there. The main claim is how much fossil fuel it takes to build them, but nobody wants to mention that within 2 years, each single windmill will more than make up for the petroleum based fuels it took to build. Liked and subscribed.

      Thanks buddy and thanks again for your help! That's very true. Naysayers of renewable energy do everything they can to try and pick them apart. One of these puppies is equivalent to taking 11,000 cars off of the road every year. I think I can deal with the tiny comparative amount of fossil fuels used to make them for the benefits. It's not even close. Have fun finishing up that wind farm!

    The biggest wind turbine installation vessel called the Voltaire is installing the Haliade X 13 MW units off Dogger Bank, UK now. There have been a few delays however. The foundation installation has been slowed by storms as the North Sea is one of the roughest seas in the world and the turbines are 100 miles offshore. There has been a problem getting ships to install the foundations and also a shortage of blades.

    One request: could you put metric measurements in your little text boxes as well?

      @TravisCheddar  3 года назад

      I’ll be sure to do that moving forward!Thanks for pointing it out.
      Here are some quick stats from the video converted to the metric system:
      853 ft tall Haliade-X = 260 m
      722 ft rotor = 220 m
      351 ft long blades = 107 m
      Thanks again!

    on those same 7 football fields of 38,000 m2, the sun puts out on earth at 1kj a square meter (1kjoules a second) 75 GWH of energy in 6 months, (10 hours a day) or half a year. Sadly we cannot get the total power available but efficiency is rising. So the sun does indeed influence climate change.

    I noticed they aren't spinning. I guess no TV or lights on that day, and I guess no car too since Brandon is trying to ban gas powered vehicles.

      I like how you told me to do my research in your other comment and the spouted conspiracy theory nonsense, but anyway, if you had done your research at all, you'd understand that turbines don't need to be constantly spinning. They create energy and store energy. They are not off and on like a light switch. That's 101.

    • @MrEkzotic

      @@TravisCheddar Thanks for the response. I have a few questions, since I don't know well informed you are of these issues. Where is that energy stored? Batteries, right? What happened to those batteries in Texas? Cobalt is used to make those batteries, and from where do we source that cobalt? Could it be perhaps in nations which are heavily influenced by China? Like in the Congo where China is using forced child labor to mine cobalt. And to which conspiracy theories are you referring? Are you familiar with the WEF and its plan for global natural resources? Are you familiar with what's going on in Sri Lanka?
      A theory is nothing but a statement which explains an observation or set of observations. Many alleged conspiracy theories have been proven to be true.
