      In all fairness... when we had those (I mean, we still have those, just ten times more intense in the opposite direction, so when we had the previous version of those), there was much less crime, far less cultural and intellectual decay, and people seemed to be a lot happier on all sides. With fewer rules keeping certain folks on the rails, we have far more theft, murder, grape, and cities being burned to the ground.

      True. Blacks using it is technically cultural appropriation.

    • @Sin_Alder
      @Sin_Alder 25 days ago +14

      Also, like most supposed "slurs", it actually wasn't remotely derogatory when it was in common use. People just got the big mad, pointed at a word, decided it was offensive on their own, making it so the average Joe felt weird about using it, and giving the people that actually DID want a derogatory word fresh ammunition.
      That's how almost all slurs are formed. Small brains getting offended over common language until that common language (sometimes language that they explicitly demand be used a mere decade or two prior, though not in this particular case) becomes demonized. Then they just move onto being offended over whatever new word is used, because you can't just go from having a word for something common to having no way of referring to it over night, and the small brains can't just live with the fact that people can talk.

    • @Philtopy
      @Philtopy 24 days ago +4

      @Sin_Alder thats true. But thats what always happens with words that put people in boxes. First they are just there for categorisation and easier identification, then they develop into judgementalism and then they become derogatory and people demand the word banned and/or changed. After they have not been able to enforce a change/ban, there is a time of resentment and then the word becomes the cornerstone of a group identity. The N word went that route. If the word gets banned however, it gets exchanged with another one that is supposed to sound nicer, but will ultimately go down the same path. Because derogatory words do not just evolve because they are bad, but because there is a solid reason why it develops in such a way. Changing the word doesnt take away the reason. Thats why banning words doesnt work.

    • @yumin_pluto558
      @yumin_pluto558 24 days ago

      @Sin_Alder It was always derogatory in it's use. White people didn't see it as derogatory themselves, but they were also unaffected by it. The word just means black, but it's most common usage was to describe black people. Once it was clear black people didn't want to be labeled that, it became a slur, because using it showed disrespect and contempt for the person in question or the group as a whole. For the Italians and Irish Americans they got called it and became more racist over time because they didn't want the negative PR of being associated with black people especially since they were implied to be subhuman. It's not that stupid people got offended by a '"common word" the word carried baggage from how racists in the country would demean, harass, and lynch them all using the word. People just want to find an avenue to be hateful, and will use any combination of words to demean black people, the word in question is just the one that was prevalent as a hateful word throughout American history.
      There was a multi-generational trauma packed into the word and it's use only refers to black people (and "unwanted" white people/other minorities). If it wasn't so stigmatized it would have fallen out of modern parlance years ago. While I do think it would be better if it wasn't used at all these days, it makes for an excellent litmus test. The attitudes of people who want to use the word largely fall into two types, they are either deeply disrespectful and/or racist, or they want to use it in the softer way common among black people themselves. While the latter isn't malicious it's the existence of the former that ruins it for them especially for white people. Most black people are tolerant towards their friends using it within their close knit group (the fabled pass) but no one wants to be the guy who's friend says it hatefully and breaks the trust given.

Then like a day later I see the notification for this video and I almost dropped my phone lol

    It's an oxymoron to begin with.
    Throughout the history of the world, there has never been a "forbidden" word where the group whom it degrades, then uses it in comradery toward one another. While simultaneously wielding it as a proverbial beartrap for others.
    It's only used by those who choose to omit its meaning, but still wish to hide behind it's divisiveness.

    the 'jesus on a donkey' thing WAS a sogn of nobility, btw,
    because warriors road horses,
    and he was coming as a king, not the warrior.
    that and it was a fullfillment of a prophecy, if i recall.

    • @NotoriousICG
      @NotoriousICG 25 days ago +2

      horses are the ones associated with nobility and power (both warriors and king). the Jesus on a donkey thing was more of a symbol of humility, not necessarily poverty, as donkeys were used for labor. sort of a ‘he didnt show up just to parade around on a fancy royal horse or chariot, but instead came to serve and carry burdens like the donkey did’

    • @ThatRheverend
      @ThatRheverend 24 days ago +1

      @NotoriousICG it was the fulfillment of a prophecy in Zechariah 9:9 - “Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout in triumph, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your king is coming to you; He is just and endowed with salvation, Humble, and mounted on a donkey, Even on a colt, the foal of a donkey.”
      In the Middle East, kings rode donkeys rather than horses as a sign of peace. Christ was showing that he was the promised Messiah, the Prince of Peace, not a king coming to conquer, which He will be in the future.
