  • Elizabeth Taylor was as big a movie star as there was in Hollywood during her career. She left that life behind to be the wife of a politician, Senator John Warner of Virginia. Her own life almost came to an end one fateful day in Big Stone Gap, Virginia, when she was rushed to the local hospital.

My goodness folks, I have missed you! Glad to know that you are still videotaping. I remember that Liz Taylor married John Warren some years ago, but didn't know where in Virginia. Goodness! that was an exciting time in Virginia!!! I didn't realize that Liz almost died from a chicken bone. I believe Liz Taylor had a lifetime of accidents which was so sad. As I recall, they were not married for any length of time. However, this was a great story. Thank you so very much for this wonderful memory. It was very interesting.

Thank you so much, Judy, so good to see your name again. Yes, Liz Taylor seemed to have as many things break against her as she did that broke for her.

I remember this! The ladies in my town were curious if her eyes were really violet. It was the subject of many conversations (at least to me, but I was a kid and didn't see what the big deal was😅 so it seemed they talked about it all the time). Anyway, the general consensus was that they looked blue after meeting her.
I remember the SNL skit which I thought was more interesting than her eye color😅

I was living in Va in the '70s and I vaguely remember Warner running for senate, but I don't remember anything about Ms Taylor.

Is the Shenandoah Valley considered part of Appalachia? It's been disputed, but I consider it it's own thing.

I found Elizabeth Taylor's grave in a remote cemetery at the end of a dirt road in the Ozarks.

@@realappalachia Pretty sure it is not the same Elizabeth Taylor, but the name made that cemetery memorable just the same. I don't remember the dates on the stone. No telling how many Elizabeth Taylors there are and have been.
