New to the fandom, but here in the Mountain West, I haven't seen this (any specific fursona group being shunned). The rule seems to be "you do YOU"! and the red lines are [1] you must not hurt the fandom, and [2] if you want to be in a parade, your fursona must be "family friendly".
I've learned quite a bit from this, and I've been in the fandom for some years! My sona is a mix of a snow leopard, husky, wolf/werewolf, cheetah, gargoyle, and dragon (and technically snake as my dragons/gargoyles become snakes as they age)! My sona is also a shapeshifter so technically I can be whatever I want AND is also part android!
@@sorensky5692 awsome! Btw you should try tweening your stills! It's not complicated, just takes a small amount of extra time. But the little bit of bounce adds alot of life to the character! If it's not somthing you like then no issue but I highly recommend at least checking it out!

This is super helpful! Love the content and super underated! it sucks my parents know I'm a furry and they're sorta okay with it but they think it's weird that now since I'm getting a little older that im still a furry. Last year my grand parents took me to go get fur and foam to make my first fursuit, mom threw it all away because it "took up to much space" and I want to try making fursuits so badly but I have no way how to. So there goes over hundred dollars worth of supplies.

X3 Thank you for sharing, though I realize this video is fairly old. I'm leaning heavily into a crocodile fursona after spending years trying to force myself to fit into my favorite animals. I really love snow leopards and tried really hard to make it work for me but it just doesn't. I lean heavily into scalies and I finally settled on crocodile because judgemental glare while trying to decide to come out my 'no people allowed' waters and eat you, or not, definitely fits how I feel a lot of the time. Hmmm, I don't actually think that there's a widely used term for anthro plant characters in the furry fandom, most ive seen is characters that have plant elements or themes on their fursona. But it doesn't mean that you can't have a plant sona/character!
Even though I'm not a furry, my sona is quite like a fursona, and it's a planethuman(human bodies with planetary heads), having human hair and unrealistic planetary rings that you can use as a halo. Although, I have furry-like chest, armpit and leg hair and scales at my limbs, making me an alien-furry-scaley hybrid.
I have 4 fursonas, my main one is a Red panda, then there's my mouse fursona, he's very little but is older than my other fursonas, then there is my Shrimp fursona (not the fluffy closed species), they are very cute and i feel a lot of comfort when i'm drawing them. And last but not least, my owl fursona, i do not draw him that much but i truely love him, i've always wanted to have a winged fursona and i didn't just wanted to give my red panda wings like other people do (no ofense)

I think Mythical's could be a good one, for those that use other magical creatures as there persona that are not Dragons, like Griffins and such and maybe, demonic's for those that are hell hounds and stuff
I want to add in my own personal adaptation of wing hands, giving them arms like a raptor or more basal bird that still has fingers on its wings or arms with feathers (in the raptor case.)

Everyone’s always talking about loona being a furry, but like that’s obvious. But have you considered that Stolas is an avian furry? Or that angel dust is technically a buggy furry?
I think technically speaking, it could be counted as a furry since it is a mammal and Avians commonly have feathers. But call yourself whichever you feel most comfortable with! Furries are pretty flexible with what you want to call yourself, and theres no real concrete rules to what determines what you are!
I'm Collin Raccoon. I have a full body suit. I had money saved up for a motorcycle but, situations change lol. I do have a sharksona but no art or anything yet. He's a black tip reef shark named Craig. He likes spending most of his time hiking mountain trails and fishing mountain creeks and lakes. He loves drinking beer, BBQs, and smoking too much of the wacky green stuff. And fart jokes are funny! He's just another form of my actual real life personality lol.
I'm a fictional and a hybrid. I have no idea what I really am. But a hybrid and fictional is the best mix I can put it as. And the most closest. I don't know what you call it. Its honestly confusing for my oc. My oc is a fox and wolf but an animatronic with blue blood and robotic features. The left arm, and right leg has no fur but the robotic parts of them. Half of the face is like a mask with a fake eyeball and ears. But when you take it off, there's flesh, eye socket, and the ear ripped off. My oc is based off of fnaf somewhat but not really that's why I say it's both. Only a few of this helped but not really. Its just confusing for my OC. And I dont know what to call it.

Personally I call avians scalies, due to feathers technically being modified scales. My sona is a bearded vulture, ended up giving them feature fingers.
I have one! Its a magicabbit its a rabbit mixed with a magic skele! (Not sans ._.) Its like a skele but also has fur, they use there magic to make there arms and ears! Without magic they have no ears and no arms! They also have a skele tail and the upper jaw and face is a skele face! I might it a closed species! =) i made a whole new species in a minute lol Also you forgot the skele's!
My furrsona are once a cat. And the other one that you could probably call avian or a hybrid because It's a chicken cat (yes, I love cats but also chickens and of the birds I like, it's the easiest to mix with a cat) ( well, when I showed my drawings, the viewers said that I drew more foxtails on both figures)

Yeah my fursona falls into the fandom made category
1) would Peter from queens count as a buggy considering his red and blue spider sona
2) transformers fit into a grey area with some transformers having robot modes that resemble anthropomorphic amimals
I mean, if Peter Parker would want to consider himself a furry, and his fursona is in fact a spider, then yeah he'd be a buggy!
And as for transformers, im actually not sure what category to fit them in? So I suppose there should be a category name for people with sonas based off of inanimate objects
@@sorensky5692 transformers could fit into the same category as animorphs (especially considering how the toys were labelled as transformers and how some uniused animorphs toys were used as new tf characters
So, I can still be a guitar playing white lion and self-identify as a 60 meter tall dragon? Will I have to duck under 50 meter tall bridges? Can I play guitar while flying? Will my fiery breath melt my patch chords if I'm playing my electric guitar? If it does, will my amp fall off my back? Does a white lion dragon even have wings?

You can make your fursona basically anything with any features! Furries arent exactly known for following the rules of science 😆

I was wondering if you have to have a species of a fictional or real animal to make your own species? I wanted to make sure if I could or not, I have a species I haven't posted in the furry community, but want to post, I want to see if I can post a non fictional or fictional species, it's entirely new, nothing like any real or fake animal.
Yeah, feel free to if its an all new species you've invented yourself! It doesn't necessarily have to be based on any already existing species!

My fursona is a raptor I even I painted a dino mask of him but would he be a scaley he has fur just not on his face so I'm not sure

One quick question. Bats are identified as furries or as avians bc they're literally flying mammals. Btw my sona is a bat too so..
I think technically speaking, it could be counted as a furry since it is a mammal and Avians commonly have feathers. But call yourself whichever you feel most comfortable with! Furries are pretty flexible with what you want to call yourself, and theres no real concrete rules to what determines what you are!

That would prob count as a hybrid since wolves don't normally have wings and they would need to get those wings from another species
I'm Collin Raccoon. I have a full body suit. I had money saved up for a motorcycle but, situations change lol. I do have a sharksona but no art or anything yet. He's a black tip reef shark named Craig. He likes spending most of his time hiking mountain trails and fishing mountain creeks and lakes. He loves drinking beer, BBQs, and smoking too much of the wacky green stuff. And fart jokes are funny! He's just another form of my actual real life personality lol.

I'm a fictional and a hybrid. I have no idea what I really am. But a hybrid and fictional is the best mix I can put it as. And the most closest. I don't know what you call it. Its honestly confusing for my oc. My oc is a fox and wolf but an animatronic with blue blood and robotic features. The left arm, and right leg has no fur but the robotic parts of them. Half of the face is like a mask with a fake eyeball and ears. But when you take it off, there's flesh, eye socket, and the ear ripped off. My oc is based off of fnaf somewhat but not really that's why I say it's both. Only a few of this helped but not really. Its just confusing for my OC. And I dont know what to call it.

Personally I call avians scalies, due to feathers technically being modified scales.
My sona is a bearded vulture, ended up giving them feature fingers.
I have one! Its a magicabbit its a rabbit mixed with a magic skele! (Not sans ._.) Its like a skele but also has fur, they use there magic to make there arms and ears! Without magic they have no ears and no arms! They also have a skele tail and the upper jaw and face is a skele face! I might it a closed species! =) i made a whole new species in a minute lol

My furrsona are once a cat. And the other one that you could probably call avian or a hybrid because It's a chicken cat (yes, I love cats but also chickens and of the birds I like, it's the easiest to mix with a cat)

My fursona is a cybernetic dragon he's part robotic, one of his arms and his tail are robotic for example and half his head is metallic. I named the fursona andromeda.
