You should definitely watch their performance (or all of their performances?). -Soyeon wanted to watch the new Lion King movie but cannot due to her schedule. She's kinda upset so she created a song with Lion King in mind during QUEENDOM. Thus the message of chorus. Saying that even tho they are lions, they can also be queens. -They went from rags to riches to royalties. This may state that they started from literally rags since they had their very first photoshoot for their 1st album behind back alleys of local fast foods in Singapore, beside trashbins, crates, and dirty walls. -All of them sang the "pa pa pa" part, stating that each of them are queen like lions. And each of them are their own queens wit their own personality (even their dress). --(my own interpretation for each): --> MINNIE have arrows and spears around her, but she's sitting still, unfazed by the attacks, while having a photo of jungle behind her. This may mean that tho she knew the attacks and lashes she's receiving, she still shows grace. Minnie is Thai, and most kfans does not like foreign members, so just imagine the hate she (or the group) is getting. Her high note part states that tho they are young, they already got crowns. (IDLE was not even 2 years when they had this performance, but had won lots of awards already). --> SOYEON was caged, however it was a tather comfy prison. Chandelier and wide space, and even the bars were not close enough so she can get out anytime. This may represent the hate she got before when she's not passing auditions due to her "ugliness" and that "caged" her before. This is why during her rap part, she mentioned about breaking those prejudice and they can't deny that they're queens any longer. Ever since then, they became more open to their lyrics and contents. --> SOOJIN was poised and beautiful, but hides a huge scar behind her. Soojin, despite being so darn sexy and charming on stage, is a shy, quiet, timid, and an introverted person. But ever since this was released, she rarely hides her tattoos, and the girls even showed theirs in social medias. --> MIYEON is elegant, however behind a frame with fire and arrows and knives. As others said, Miyeon was supposed to debut with BLACKPINK, but left since they have been delayed so many times back then. She almost gave up her idol dream because she's "too old" to even debut. Also, she's clowned by her members coz she's an adorable, "slow", yet so charming and sweet. --> YUQI is framed as well but have rays that looked like a mane or even a halos, saying that she's worshipped. In reality, Yuqi is actually at the top of the top students in Beijing, even a club officer, and so talented. I love how they level up in this MV. They start in basically "rags" (the plain dresses at 3:04 in the white background scene); then they move on to high fashion ( 4:56 in that same scene); and finally the literal red queen dresses of like classic European royalty. Their live performance of Lion on Queendom was ridiculous, it's definitely worth checking out. It has a whole intro with Minnie narrating, it's 6:11 long, on the Mnet youtube channel.

There are MANY idols who learn to rap during their training years, pre-debut. I don't know if it is a full-on requirement in order to debut with the group or if it is just pushed as a very hard 'optional, secondary' thing (and maybe it depends on the company training them, like I think YG requires all their trainees to be able to rap but JYP might not require it), but SO MANY idols CAN rap that you would NOT expect. For example, we already know that our fierce Jennie and Lisa are the rappers of BLACKPINK, they are obvious. BUT, did you know that our lovely and sweet Jisoo has covered raps when Jennie was ill and could not perform? Didn't see that one coming, did you? :)
yess i agree with the rap style of chorus. like you need a long breath to sing that part and the parts always be given to yuqi and miyeon. yuqi do rap a lot but miyeon never show a proper type of rapping but definitely she can be a good rapper alongside with yuqi and minnie (soyeon is already the best tho)
