Very helpful video. My new 40amp Rover 40Ah charge controller and core 1 will be arriving in the next day or so. I have a small off grid setup as backup power to my home, using 400 watts of renogy pannels and the adventure 30amp controller to charge my 4 deep cycle tractor lead acid batteries. With my new charge controller, I'll be adding two more pannels to make 600 watts which help with winter charging needs to feed my renogy 2000 watt inverter. I'm excited that I'll be able to monitor production while away from home and the upgraded mppt charging with the rover controller. Thanks for posting your video it was extremely helpful to prepare for setup.
The last time I checked it was indeed to weak to reach the cab of my truck. If I were at the hitch it would read. I will check it again maybe tonight to see if this has changed. In full disclosure, I have a unit that I picked up from BeechLane that's in my video list . That unit is battery powered and that's what I use. It is fantastic.! Check out that video !
If you want to ditch the Bluetooth or just get down to a single Bluetooth adapter, you can buy the Renogy Hub. Then you just plug in with RJ-45 cables all the devices, and then either directly wired to the core or you can install the BT2 adapter.
Nice video. Q - why did you go with dc-to-dc as well as a charge controller. Doesn't the dc-to-dc also do solar? I'm adding lithium to our Class A - trying to figure out if I need dc-to-dc with only 200 ah batteries. Or if Rover 30A charge controller is all I need. Thanks.
@slgreig, fair question. Our travel trailer is 29 feet overall and link and it is a higher feature couples travel trailer, utilizing more of the internal space and less cargo storage compartments so I had a very small compartment to work with which was a perfect opportunity to put all things solar inside. The charge controller that I used is a very good one and you are correct it does do solar, and DC to DC with solar being the priority first. Something you should know though is that this controller has a 50 amp total max output regardless of the mix solar/alternator , 50 A is your max. The only other reason is outside of space-saving is that it was on sale day after Christmas and I believe it was nearly 90 bucks off so I had to buy it. Please check back in and let us know the route you went.
Mine got stuck on the network list. It is connected but it is not doing anytrhing. RENOGY support sucks. Any ideas how to get this to work, or I need a replacement.,
@@ArthurKlisiewicz I had to totally reset mine. Connect to WiFi, ran update (set to auto) and within an hour it showed signs of life again. Auto updates from Renogy not warning us of a software change is so uncool! It's all back and working good now, I just wish Renogy would manage their support team better, this is unacceptable in my view.
The core one talks directly to the devices by hardwire or the BT method. When we originally installed this I didn't have the BT batteries or the Renogy BT shunt. A few months after this video release the shunt finally came out. In another video I hooked up the shunt and brought the battery total voltage to the One Core device. For me, it was a no-brainer to use the battery shunt because it accomplished the goal that I needed. Since the making of that video, Renogy also has a very good smart battery that connects directly to the One Core. The reason that I like the battery shunt method is that it shows me the battery current that were using, and when the sun is out and also shows us how much charge we're putting back to the battery bank. Check out the other video where we are installing the shunt, this will likely explain more on the next video. ruclips.net/video/HivrqZNz1DU/видео.htmlsi=h3qppIqD0AioKX8_
I have 3 x 100ah Renogy Core batteries, 50ah DCDC, 2000w inverter, 300a shunt, BT2 and currently have the One M1 display. I have a One Core on order. I’m hoping the new display will work better with my system. I can’t get the battery % to display on the M1 or my app
@@MrSouwesta I've read somewhere that the M1 won't display it as of yet, I think I've read that they are working on the new firmware version that will allow the battery percentage to show up on the M1. @richyrich1723, no is quick answer. It can just be a display that shows the status of the batteries, controllers and RV leveling . If connected to a network you can look at it remotely and can toggle things / on off with the Renogy smart plugs. Network just makes things a little handier.
Network is not needed for this to work. It's primary purpose is to be a central point to monitor all of the Renogy devices. It only works with Renogy products but we're hopeful that they will get onboard with open framework to expand other devices. Great question!
So it operates on a USB-C power port, but it will monitor compatible Renogy devices, if those devices are 48 V it will definitely integrate with them. that should be no issue for clarity. This device operates on 12 V or a USB-C power supply.

Very true. So far the controls and controllers are 8' apart so connectivity hasn't been an issue. I almost bought the hub, but decided to wait.
