It's a great song with so much emotion. Blackie's voice just oozes emotion when he sings. I love the lyrics of the song. Blackie said he wrote it from the perspective of the thief on the cross beside Jesus. Even if people don't like the lyrics, you can't argue with the music, especially the solo at the end. W.A.S.P.'s music has really evolved over the years as Blackie has evolved. You've got to respect a guy who stands up and sings about something that is real to him and that he believes in, especially in the metal community where beliefs are often mocked.
I was just talking to my co worker about that today. I like that same attitude is what killed the genre. Too many metalheads hating on people for being different. Dude, just made an awesome song with tons of feeling and emotion but will be discredited because it's "Christian Metal".

I'm 55 years old, W.A.S.P. is my alltime favorite band. I fell in love with their music & imagery in the 80's. I have always been religion free. Never forced on me or presented to me. About a month ago, i discovered this song & it spoke to me loudly. Good or bad, it has sent me down a spiritual rabbit hole. I am now opened my mind to Christianity. Im still learning. It has opened a new dimension to life. Im not born or born again, but I can see myself falling into that line of thinking. However, I WILL NEVER BECOME AN ANNOYING BIBLE THUMPER, the type that always kept my mind to Jesus & God. Just had to give my 2 cents worth.

"Heaven's Hung in Black" is a great WASP song to follow up to "Golgotha"... "The Raging Storm", "Lake of Fools", "Trail of Tears" and "Miss You" are also great songs
The incredible thing in this song is blackie's voice, the vibrato full of sorrows, the raspy tune symbol of his life experience and the power/conviction in his prononciation, all of that makes this song particularly touching and emotional.
Blackie is one of the rare breed of vocalists with a "personal" (or a signature) voice. I am listening to metal music for 35+ years. And still I haven`t heard anybody sound like Blackie. I am sure some artists might try impersonate him (and succeed) if they really want to, but that would be kind of a "special" anniversary act. So glad this guy has a long career and still make great music.
Faith in Jesus is a personal relationship. We can go to church to worship God but just know that people are not perfect and every one of us will eventually let someone down, hurt someone's feelings, get somebody angry. People are not perfect.

He describes himself as a rebel. He was raised Christian but turned his back on it at a young age. Rebelliousness makes you do and say things that will get the biggest reaction from others. When you finally grow up, the rebelliousness fades away and you’re left with what was your core person.

Since Blackie Lawless went back to Christianity, he has dropped a lot of the old stuff form his set lists - no more Animal, no more Chainsaw Charlie (except maybe the new PG version released in 2017), no more of any of the raunchiest, nastiest stuff that made them great to begin with. I'd be surprised if he will even acknowledge those eras of his life and career? Some "born-again"s distance themselves as if they think by doing so it will undo or erase whatever "sins" of the past they did. I would not consider songs to be "sins" but by Blackie's own accounts, the songs are small introspects and testimonies of what was "happening with the band" at the time, a reflection of those "sins". I dunno, it's just too bad that people hit a wall in life with all the difficulty and turmoil and strife, and their answer is to retreat into the trappings and ideologies (and brainwashing) of organized/formal religion and other faith-based belief systems. It's one thing to find something spiritual (and somewhat vague, not being overly-precise in its philosophies and ideas) to keep you anchored and help you navigate through the shit-storms of life, but too many get sucked into these cults that are just about control and conformity.
