Dimapur is so sufficient with water. We the people from Kohima are jealous of free swimming pool provided to them by the nature. Dimapur is such a beautiful place with sufficiency of water. 😍

We can take the example of 4th Mile, you can hardly see flood in 4th Mile because the drainage system is all there in place as water can easily passed through it,
We give space for building the drainage system, even in my area we give drainage space on the road side for the villages authority to build them, so there is no flooded area there,
And those elderly man said was very very true, he mentioned regarding drainage, we Naga can't sacrifice even an Inch for building drainage system that's why flood everywhere in Different parts of Dimapur

There are multiple factors...
One is the floor has been made concrete. .. within compound and on roads.
Let rain water sip into the ground within every household compound. It will reduce overflow more over it will replenish the ground water lavel.
Stop asking help from government when you are also responsible for this cause.
I should say, government or the MUNICIPAL are giving their efforts by cleaning and cleaning the drainage but when the citizens don't have enough civic sense to keep one's surroundings clean.
Stay safe and keep your surroundings clean and do have some civic senses to avoid throwing your garbages.
I pray that nothing untoward things or situation will come upon people affected by the FLOOD. 🙏🏻

First i thought what was meant for power shutdown suddenly after rain but as i woke up and saw below my house it was all flooded....thanks to power department for careful and early response in shutting down the power immediately....and thanks to all the vote seller that your prayers won't be answered by the govt and, that most parts in dimapur are suffering due to improper drainage and sanitary👍keep up the spirit so that the families and children will have to suffer from time to time during rainy season....
And also special thanks to all the landlords of near drainage area for improper house planning due to greed👍
And also to all the Careless public for not disposing the waste properly

In Dimapur, people tend to encourage alot into the Road Side and leave NO land for Drainage Construction. This leads to Vehicular Road into Rivers and Flooding everywhere every monsoon.

The Government can help by demolishing the construction that have encroached into the Vehicular Roads and No enough space is given for PROPER DRAINAGE CONSTRUCTION.
Encroachment along the drainage line in colonies should be strictly observed by the Govt or any agencies. Telling the public and land owners to maintain drainage is a long way....

I think what is done is done. Now at present we can still rectify this if a combined initiative is taken from all colonies and contribute and rebuild a bigger drainage . Also the land owners should come together and give some space from their land to build the drainage in coordination with the govt .

A very conscientious news reporter. I suggest, a follow-up news story from this flooding issue, after determining the cause and what actions have been taken in response to it by the landowners, department heads, and the government.
This flooding issue will be an annual ongoing issue, and any relief package or help is merely a quick repair band-aid on the unsolved concerns or land hoarding by the property owners.
I love this part about us.Majority of the people sells their vote during election.Dont disturb the elected members.They also have to earn now.Stop whining and start living.Hope after five years we get some sense.(which I doubt again!!!)

Dear Nagas, please go home, live in your own district headquarters, increase the building and population and then fight for development like Dimapur and Kohima. Especially for proper facility in health care,education,road communication, water supply, electricity,etc. When you have your own home as good as heaven then I am sure you'll never never look back for hell like Dimapur again🙏
This things are happening because of people greediness, most of the land owners doesn't want to give 3-5 ft land for construction of drainage etc adding to that dumping our waste in drainage areas. I would say this is solely responsible of the citizens not govt.

One should not always blame the Govt & authorities... Public are also responsible for the clogged drainage. Having civic sense makes a responsible citizen.
Ever noticed some commercial building owners along the roadside plastering their building pavements with concrete (front side) 3-4 feet high and encroaching into the main road blocking all the waters during rain, and some people raising their house gate foundations at least 2-3 feet high and their dhalai (cement plasters) would extend and eat up portions of the road and block drainage.
These are all failures of the councils and the uncivilized public themselves.
See...i felt the dimapur colony council should looked after it ..say collection of 300 rs will be done towards each colony and each colony will have atleast 5000 house hold and so the total will be 15000 rs and so the colomy should hire a JCP and open all the water logged area... along with the DMC.... Because the government will do nothing and moreover i felt me being a naga it is the responsibility of the people living in diamapur

With 6 inches drainage I don't think it will work with heavy rainfall... My query is do they have enough drainage to avoid it...
Its because of building houses into the river and keeping no place for the water to flow come to Lengri river near Aokong Dillai Gate the starting point of the river onto Dimapur and you can see The encroachment in the river
