Wow…Alain…just finished watching part 1&2….loved it ❤. I would have been tempted to do a lot more blending (and that takes a lot longer too) …but the “suggestions” you did, are just right, of course, and this piece came out great! I’m looking forward to the live class tomorrow 👍
Allain, this young lady cat is lovely and have enjoyed both parts of your portrait video. Oddly enough, it has never occured to me to sharpen a harder pastel for such things as whiskers. Of course, it a wonderful find!!
Thanks so much Alain ! It is such a pleasure to see you paint this beautiful cat that you cherish and make it even more alive, vibrant than in the photo. It is the miracle of your talent and of this extraordinary Pastel medium that you master finely, subtly, marvelously.
Very beautifully done. I would love to paint my cat eventually. I need to learn to paint with pastels by starting with smaller project first. I have been working in watercolors for many years and lately in oil.
Thanks so much,. I think that one of the most important things I've learned from you is to make a thumbnail before painting the piece. It just makes so much sense to get things right. thanks again. Kg
This was an amazing lesson .thank you so much for creating this video. I did start a pastel this morning of my dad‘s cat for Father’s Day, and I am really trying to get better with structure and proportion of the face. the way you mapped out the shapes in the very beginning is what I really am struggling to get better with, when I try to do any type of structural objects.this video was so helpful to me that now I am going to apply some of this. Thank you for sharing your beautiful painting with all of us
So glad this was a helpful lesson for you Jennifer, the drawing is important at the start when we want to capture the form and likeness. All my best for your Father's Day portrait!
Hullo Alain! I simply love the way you create marks on the surface of any paper you choose! This is a lovey kitty too! You have managed to once again captured its essence with impressionistic marks that leave most of us staring in awe! Thanks again!
Thank you Alain. That was wonderful to watch you create this gorgeous cat. Animals are my thing but I am still learning to loosen up and this helps so much to see how you do it so masterfully. Wonderful painterly art as always from you :).
Absolutely fantastic! So simple but so realistic and alive. If I consider the way I agonize over every hair for hours and days - and you achieve this ! Amazing!
This has come at the perfect time! I am in the process of painting a cat for my daughter in law and I have been struggling. I now know how to make the corrections
Fabulous! I’ve been so looking forward to this second part and it’s turned out beautifully. Many thanks for your inspiring lessons, greetings from England x
Thank you very much for this cat portrait demo, Alain. I am planing on painting our cat and this came just at the right time. It is a masterpiece as always. Stunning! I have already learned so much from you.
AMAZING 🤩!! Maestro the kitty has been launched, leaving our earthly bounds! Alain, I was staring at a painting the other day ( Omnibus, sketch, Anders Zorn) Wow!! How did he do it!! Well that style although in oil reminds me of your master works! 🙏🙏 Thanks so much for this
hanks Alain, I loved your tutorial. I learned a lot from your technique. How about painting a West Highland Terrier in your next video? big challenge. I have two and I want to paint them, that is my new challenge. if you want I can share a photo 😅

My daughter saw this while you were finishing it up and said, "I like his painting more than I like the photo." Compliment well deserved.
