you have to put Master on the config because it's a repository.. you are selection the branch name (there could be infinite branch names.. but usally the stable branch of data it's Master)
Thank you Boone! This tutorial is a godsend! I always wondered if there is an easier solution than drawing borders manually in photoshop and trying to resize and morph all the different reference maps to fit the composition. I guess I have my answer.
I used to have the same problem as well. An alternative is to import a reference map to after effect and draw the map directly on a shapelayer. You might be able to use auto-trace in AE if the reference map has really sharp and distinct edge.

In the banner you got that little star the same when you add label of a place. i think am having a problem to put the map as a label than use the effect. i dont know am just guessing. best regards
Ah yeah, I kind of quickly skipped over that part. I use a tool called Overlord to bring vectors from Illustrator to AE as shape files. Watch this tut - ruclips.net/video/XTjDoJDeAxA/видео.html
@@BooneLovesVideo Right...So NOT using Overlord is there a way to do something similar. EG I've got a mapcomp with the camera animating how I want. I've not finalized it yet. I've got a shape layer for the borders of Japan, this is pinned to my greater map comp. I've got the Imperial Japanese Flag as an image file. I can set it so the flag shows up as a matte for the shape layer - forming a flag cutout in the shape of Japan's borders. I also set the image to 3d and link it to the main mapcomp base. Then I move the mapcomp along the timeline for the animation, the flag image stays within the borders of Japan - NEAT The problem is the part of the flag shown within Japan's borders does not remain static (or rather it doesn't move along with the rest). So I'm seeing different parts of the flag as the animation plays - yes I'm only seeing them within the borders of Japan, but it's distracting AF and defeats the purpose of what I'm trying to do. Essentially the borders of Japan are acting like a window to the flag image beyond - the window stays in the same place within the wall (my comp) as I (the camera) move around, but I see different parts of what's beyond the window. What I want, is the borders of Japan to act like a frame ON the wall, showing me whats within the frame in the same spot on the wall as I move around. ...if that makes sense. Is the problem that I'm using an image file?
Okay, I figured a way around it by making another mapcomp by duplicating the maincomp, adding a drawn Japan borders, and linking it to the maincomp (like you did for the borders in the Lemino video). Then I made the flag image its own comp, brought that into the main comp, made the duplicated layer borders the matte, and had the flag comp following the borders comp which followed the maincomp...which I had to change to 3d to make it work. God damn this program sometimes...
@@BooneLovesVideo Hi Boone, i do have overload now. do i need to convert image as vector first? because i put the image png at AI then try to push to AE and the shape layer looks empty.
Nice work, however, it certainly would have been nice if there was more transparency regarding the use of maptier before we paid and travelled down this road. For use of maptier (2 x 4 second shots) in a low budget documentary/without broadcast (after their discount pricing is $1500 USD). Perhaps we should have just stuck with Cinema 4D
Thanks for the tutorial but it doens't work on my pc. When I put the link in the prefrences and everything just as in the video, it doenst show me anything when I search "1960" or ahything else. Do I first need to download something or?
Hmmm, that should work. Make sure you scroll all the way down after you do a keyword search for 1960. The GEOlayers panel can hide things if it's too small. If that doesn't work I would double check that you followed all of the steps to connect the database.
