Hi Corey, I have the original 1947 set. My dad bought it used in the 50's for my older brother, then it was handed down to me, My 2025 came from the Lionel factory with Baldwin drivers and an unpainted aluminum stack. I even have all the original cars with auto-coil couplers. It came with one more car than the one in your catalog, a black Pennsylvania gondola. I also have the original loop of Lionel O track, transformer, lock-on, and remote control track. I took it apart at the age of 13 to replace the smoke unit and overhaul the motor. What a nightmare! It was all jammed up and the wheels would not turn. The guy who sold it to my dad brought another one over and when we compared the two it was obvious that I needed to re-adjust the side rods. We had it running in a few minutes and it was puffing smoke. I learned later that the 2025 is the most difficult of all the Lionel's to work on. Excellent film with superb editing!
Lance Boil woah thats awesome you still have it 😮!! Itʻs always great to hear stories of guys and their childhood model trains because it shows how much passion is in the hobby and memories too! Yeah I guess you found out the hard way about 2025ʻs haha! Luckily Ben told me about how hard they were so I got my train guy to do it since I know for a fact I would have had a hard time on it 😆! Thanks for the comment Lance!
I have the 47 2025 which is my favorite, it pulls the Tuscan Brown tinplate passenger cars under the Christmas tree every year. It's also a smooth runner and was reconditioned about 10 years ago and looks great! Your 52 is a gem and the layout is fantastic!
Nice video. You are very knowledgeable about the 2025/675 Lionel locomotives. However the lights at the top of the smoke box are classification lights not marker lights appearing at the rear of the train. If not illuminated, no train follows. If green, Section follows (many trains were run in multiple sections to accommodate wartime and pos😢t war crowds). If red, last section. If white extra or special. Nice layout!
Richard greenberg you bet postwars the best 😀!! I really feel like the 2025 is one of Lionels best “classic steamers” since it looks and works great! Thanks for the comment like always!!
I have a 675, and several of the steam Turbines. I love them all, but I have to say that the Turbines are my favorite. They are great pullers, and have a unique sound, plus they're very easy to service.
FAN-tastic! Corey, you really GET Lionel O-gauge! Your choices for engines, tenders, and cars are first-rate. And you present with knowledge and enthusiasm. Really enjoyed watching that Pennsy engine run. Nicely done!
Patrick Walsh thank you very much for your kinds words 😊!! People like you keep me going haha, I love doing these types of videos and I canʻt wait to get back at it again because the reception for these things is so great. Glad you liked the video and thanks for the comment!!
Stephen Koferl thank you very much! Yep its a charming little locomotive and it looks brand new now so I couldnʻt be more happy 😀! Thanks for the comment!
Justin Zorn thats awesome! I love my postwar and its great to know that many guys around my generation love postwar just as much! Thanks for the comment!
Corey its been a couple years since Ive seen this but always enjoy your vids.Thats a fine looking example of a Lionel k4 I have the 1948/49 version of the 2025 plus other postwar steamers. I get the feeling that a lot of us old guys would like to adopt you as our grandson. 😅
Thanks Arnold! This video in particular I wish I did more of, its just the research half of it that always took a while! I can’t believe this video is over 3 years ago, feels like I made it yesterday!
David's trains, legos and random things oooo thats awesome!! I love the silver stack 2025/675ʻs cause I think they look so nice and work good too! Thanks for the comment!!
Strictly Steam thank you very much!! I feel like it would be even better if it had a Pennsy stamped tender and a 4-6-2 wheel arangement but still its a great little loco! Thanks for the comment!!
Thanks for the video. Beautiful loco. It's one of my favorites too. I appreciate the train set consist on you show run. It brought back some nice memoiries.
TrainStorm // Pere Marquette Productions man at the time I write this its now 850 and I still donʻt have a special out yet 😂😂😂!! Thanks for the comment!!
Corey - great video! I have the 675. They truly are good pullers. Nice layout! Good to see a business that sells “solid state televisions” - boy, did that take me back! Keep up the good work.
JD1533 hey thank you very much ☺️!! Glad you like what I do and Iʻd say the layout will probably be done in a few weeks so I canʻt wait 😀! Thanks for the comment!
Great video! I have a 2025 and 2056 handed down from my grandpa. Both pull great, the 2025 maybe a little smoother. I love the weight of this one. It seems to be heavier over the beautiful Baldwin wheels compared to the 2056 Hudson. I also love the sound it makes when operating.. almost has a metallic tapping sound. The Hudson has more grind but not that tapping sound. So it gives each of them their own character. The only issue with my 2025 is it has to be moving at at least moderate speed to get across the Lionel standard switch track without it losing power and “shifting” into neutral. Maybe one of the center rollers aren’t working? Mine is also missing both gems on the front of the boiler and the tender doesn’t have a whistle. Thanks for the video!
I'm impressed. I watched one of your HO videos and yeah, seen this often on RUclips, same ol, but you'd mentioned O, and having some original standard/ wide gauge thought I'd have a skim through your channel. I was pleasantly surprised, your enthusiasm, presentation, knowledge, even the video layout (showing catalogue and where the 2025 fits in etc). I'm subscribing 'cos you've done a bang up job, I'm gonna have to say though I really think your soul is with O
muir8009 thank you very much!! I'm glad you like my style of video too since I don't see many other model train videos like mine. I know I'm FAR from perfect but I feel like this style is just more engaging to the audience than an unknown person behind a camera filming trains around their layout a few times. I'm glad you like what I do and thank you so much for subscribing it means a lot 😊!
Planets must be aligned. I found this video scanning the internet. I have the passenger set with the green cars. Just got done going through the engine and yes they are very involved. Great video and you have a new subscribed fan!!
Nice find! Those Baldwin drivers are definitely an upgrade to the basic spoked drivers which looked kinda plain. Rather ironically I was working on my 1952 2025 yesterday adjusting the brush spring tension and let me tell you these K4s are a Royal pain to put back together! You were wise to have someone overhaul it
RichardsTrainsAndMore thats funny yeah 😂! The only reason I didnʻt do it myself was because I knew they were pains to take apart and put back together so I just got my train guy to do it lol! Thanks for the comment Rich!
Great looking locomotive Corey! I'm with you my 675 quickly became one of my favorites, there just SOOO perfect. Plus you can't beat there reliability and performance. BTW congrats on hitting 800 subs, its safe to say that 1000 subs will be in your future soon!
Bens Trains I agree 100%! The Lionel K4 Pacifics are soooo cool and also thank you haha! I keep running out of ideas on how to celebrate every milestone but I just canʻt wait to hit 1k 😀!!
Same, I did a regular special where I ran my trains cause my stream didn't work. I've done a series which was tiring, plus with high school starting I might not even be able to continue with my channel ad much, ill have to slow down and not upload as much
Nice job Corey ! Great layout and the 2025 looks way better with Baldwin Disc drivers and nickel rims. That’s easily C7 equipment. The K4 are nice but the turbine even better they run just like the Berkshires.I feel that pre Magnatraction models run smoother and quieter.
Arnold thank you! I agree the Baldwin drivers look so fancy haha! Pre magna traction definitely runs quieter but some of my best locos (which have magna traction) run pretty smooth too! Thanks for the comment!
Andrew McCormick like my friend Ben said no this is the original 1970’s MPC era version of the Blue Comet which one my opinion is my most favorite Blue Comet set 😉! Thanks for the comment!!
I enjoy your videos they are very cool. I too have several Lionel trains including an old post war Hudson , but I just hate the smell of the smoke. Does it bother you especially in a closed room?
Edward Cady not too much Iʻd say, the boiler, pilot and trailing truck wheels as well as the whole tender are from the original 2025 and the motor and wheels are from a different 2025. Itʻs a lot like a classic car restoration where you gotta find parts from the same type of model you have. Just in this case its a lot cheaper than restoring your average classic car 😉!
FutureRail Productions thank you very much 😀!! Iʻm gonna be starting school soon so sadly I wonʻt have any time so do anything since I gotta do a lot of studying 😕! Thanks for the comment!
Santa brought me a 2026 in 1953, a small set with the gon and tank car. Thanks for the fantastic memories of a great era of Lionel steam. 😁
Que bonito tren
insanely cool to see them bring this loco back for lionchief engines recently!

The 2025-675-2035 are real pains to re assemble.
That 675 is mint! Such a classic.

Nothing better than a postwar steamer. I love my 675 the best
Richard Sobieck yup, nothing beats postwar Lionel 😉! Like Tonka trucks, there built to last!! Thanks for the comment!!
I still love the smell of the smoke and that little motor .
Nice video. You are very knowledgeable about the 2025/675 Lionel locomotives. Thanks! I am so glad to see young person so enthused with Lionel trains!
Post war is the greatest. I think i will dig out my 2025 and give it a spin. congratulations on 800 plus.

Love the Blue Comet in the background. Is that the Lionel 2012 release?
It is the MPC era version from the 70s/80s

Que bonito humito gris de la locomotora
How many cars can you pull with the 2025? Without putting to much stress on the motor? Like it looks great?
I enjoy your videos they are very cool. I too have several Lionel trains including an old post war Hudson , but I just hate the smell of the smoke. Does it bother you especially in a closed room?
Try the Nada liquid smoke
So the million dollar question is - why is one locomotive a 675 and another is 2025 if they are identical?
Uhhh, the speed limit is 40 mph, but your locos were doing a good 75!
If the drive train and the boiler have been replaced, what is original left?
Edward Cady not too much Iʻd say, the boiler, pilot and trailing truck wheels as well as the whole tender are from the original 2025 and the motor and wheels are from a different 2025.
