I am 33 years old and I'm the only one who cares for my mother. Who is also bi polar 1. We literally do not qualify for help even though we have no money after paying the bills. My health is declining. Yet no one cares. I have spent hours on the phone begging for help. Just 3 hours a day so I can sleep but I have to pay out of pocket and then I might be reimbursed. Ha. What a joke. Mom has no reasoning skills. But she is still very coherent. If I was to place her in a care home... she would be able to refuse to see me even though I'm her guardian. There are those of us that are doing it alone and raising a family on top of caring full time with no breaks. I've been up for almost 48 hours because of a manic episode and no doctor wants to put her back on the benzos that would help. Its okay. We are just the forgotten. The ones who don't qualify for help because of a couple of dollars difference and sure as hell can't pay out of pocket. Mental health care is a joke.
