One of the coolest things about this watch that I never really see mentioned is the crystal. It’s a flat top with an internal dome. Really old school. Seiko, Citizen, and Orient used to do crystals this way back in the 60s/70s. They could’ve easily just went with a standard flat or regular domed sapphire and no one would’ve really noticed or cared but that little extra touch is pretty awesome.
I LOVE the look of an aluminum bezel insert, and I like that crown. But I especially love the bevel on the edge of the crystal. This is a beautful watch.
I bought my Barnacle here in Australia but on the rubber strap Rob. Very comfortable! But I agree with the crown being small. However I can live with it!😎👍🏼
I wish Citizen/Miyota would introduce a 9000 series movement with 50+hours power reserve like their 8300 series. A longer power reserve would make this a legit contender to the Tudor FXD and Pelagos line. Get the Japanese Navy to issue it and then the "military watch collectors" will line up outside the ADs.
There's a Citizen 0951 movement used in the higher end Series 8 watches, I think they are called citizen 870 or something like that. That movement is an upgrade of the 9051 used in the fujitsubo and lesser Series 8 siblings, with 50 hours of power reserve and more tight calibration.
@@GYOW00 yeah, new. I got it from a great Sydney retailer called Starbuy, they currently have it for their more regular price of 750AUD, which is about £390. I don't know if they ship overseas or if you'd have to pay import duties, etc.
Good looking watch. Perhaps in a future iteration , it could use with a larger crown and slightly deeper or sharper grip around the bezel.. and maybe female end links, too. Otherwise, pretty good for what it is right now.
bought the 17e rubber strap at bargain , less than $460 at official retailer here in Malaysia. just curious if the watch box should be the standard canisters box or a dull square box which they gave me for a promaster
UPDATE: I purchased one of these. Its really nice! The bezel on mine is actually very audible and clicks nicely, and 100% lines up perfectly. Coming from a Seiko Samurai PADI though, I wish the watch a size larger. It's just kinda small-ish. The coated finish on the TI really works!! Have had this a month now, and ZERO scratches on the Ti! The sweep second hand is probably 4 Hz, as it's completely smooth sweep. I like the smooth caseback and very nice bracelet. This is the best Ti watch I've ever owned. I'd say the only disappointment is that the bezel insert absolutely should be CERAMIC on a watch that costs this much.
No need for them anymore, you can get pretty much any band in quick change. And even without, just get a Bergeon pushpin remover...just as easy as drilled lugs.
From what I can tell, these aren’t made in Japan? I see “Japan Mov’t” on the dial. Are these cases made in China/Indonesia? I’m a huge fan of my NB1050 as it is, at least as I understand, made in Japan. I would assume the bracelet is made in China though there are no markings.
This is a tool watch, you can wear this 7 days a week and don’t feel the burden. The small crown is a good decision, it never gets in the way no matter what you do.
My dealer sells both the blue and the black dial. Of the 2, I preferred the black dial on the strap but I was disappointed with the overall build quality. Usually, Citizen makes outstanding quality at this price. I notice there is a new all-gray version.
If by the end of next year this still available im gonna cop this one. At least looking "similar" to P39 (no way I can afford one) but this is a good replacement
You won't be disappointed mate! I've got one and it's the most comfortable and most accurate watch I own and it's not even close. I work as a mechanic so the lightness is a nice bonus . I don't baby it at all so it's scuffed and scratched but over the last 5 days of wear it's gained 3 SECONDS. the accuracy on this is astonishing for the price . Of course I May of gotten lucky but my track record with the miyota 9000 shows they are very reliably accurate . Have had the watch for a few months now and will not be leaving the collection.
@@justinlangley9522 maybe next year. See if the price goes down but the newer NB6025-59H has a better dial and the black titanium finish really popped out the looks
@@tngchinghwa could be in the us. ive been watching prices on this one, here, since last winter and it as lowest ever and still way cheaper then the us..
I had this exact watch but ended up selling it. Titanium at this price is great value, plus the movement was running well within COSC for me. Also the lume is amazing! Some cons for me personally, the bezel action felt very cheap and the lug to lug was to long. Also wasn't digging the mercedes hour hand. Lastly the bracelet felt unusable for me.
What a well thought out watch. I freaking love this!. Its beautiful and everything I want in a diver. I just don't like titanium for a dive watch. I like the heft of steel...
Those other citzens you mentioned are probably eco drive and mineral crystal. mechanical and sapphire is always going to come a bit of a premium, especially the nicer 9000 series movement this watch contains.
@@bigwilliearmitage Yeah pretty sure these barnacles are the least expensive citizen titanium autos. The only other one i can think of is the NB6004 and NB6005 which are bit large for most and are more expensive.
WHY a larger crown.....so it can dig in your hand and be easier to accidentally loosen? I hope they don't. And a ceramic bezel on a 70's remake? Really? Does everything have to look exactly the same? I owned 2 divers with ceramic bezels, I don't like it at all. I really don't get the whole ceramic bezel thing. It looks and feels completely out of place on a toolwatch and once your watch ages, it looks even more out of place....a shiny turd on top of a scratched-up toolwatch...yuk. Bring back teh Alu bezel inserts, they age beautifully and are WAAAAAAAAAY stronger.
Completely worth it when you look at it objectively . It's got a surface hardened full titanium case and my one has astonishing accuracy . Compared to a 5+ thousand dollar pelagos that just had base grade 2 titanium and is known to pick up scratches even if you look at it .. and I doubt a pelagos would be much more accurate then my promaster. My one is running less then a second a DAY when worn .
Also it should have micro adjustment holes at the clasp, im sure nobody want to use their diver extension for "better fit" with the gap that it makes when its open. At least 3 holes at micro adjustment needed, bigger crown, 120 click better bezel action with brushed bezel for better grip not polished to slide under your fingers. And some polished chamfer edge at the lugs to not look dull like it is now. And remove Rollie merc hour hand for some originality. After all that it will be a much better watch. But like we all know bigger brands dont listen to customers and do whatever they want so i expect nothing from this to happen for version 2.0.
I'd love to see this with a ceramic bezel, drilled lugs, 6mm crown, with a Super-Quartz or Eco-Drive movement. Luv the dimensions, size, look of this watch. Thx!
Dunno it looks cheap and boring who would buy this to re-enforce their status? Watches are like 90% status symbols nowadays IMO, everyone has a phone to tell the time (Hence Omega, the crown and yadayada)
Just because some watches act as status symbols doesn't mean they all do. Your 90% status symbol opinion is silly. Assuming you have a phone, why are you watching this?

The small crown is a non issue on my one .. I mean when it's running +6 seconds a WEEK I barely even use the crown. The accuracy on this is fantastic.
Bezel sounds great, almost like a ball bearing movement. Nice watch from Citizen.
I really love mine. It so light and also accurate. Gets equal wrist time with my Omega GMT 50th.
Saltman’s rocks! They are a great AD to deal with.
Citizen does titanium right at that price bracket.
Agree. I've a Promaster Tough Titanium BN0118-55E which quickly became my daily wearer. Love it.

I just wish that they made the lug to lug shorter. The max my wrist would go is 47mm. 😢
Looks good. In the UK, DC Leake have it up for £715 ($900) inc. delivery.

Not keen on that middle end link of the bracket. Extends the lug to lug too much for me and looks too intrusive.

100% agree . I use this to work as a mechanic . So it's gets bashed and wet and everything in between but it still keeps perfect time (literally)
so the bezel insert is also titanium?

Can you buy the titanium bracelet separately for the black dialed version.
