Thank you TomyTek outdoors! We used your videos and created our trout line with snoods. We used it on Sunday and Monday. We caught about 5 dozen but on 7 were keepers. A lot of females and 5 inches.
That's awesome. I'm glad to help. It should hey better in the fall. Females seems to like more salt. If you can get further back into a river or creek where it is more fresh, you can find more males. I think the fall is gonna be really good.
Gotcha Thanks so much Does it make a difference in material used for snoods? Looks like you use short pieces of bungee cord. Did not see anything on making snoods. Thanks again for you time. Maybe the bungee snoods take some vibration outta the line ?
great content Tommy. You look like a happy Filipino family. Retiring in Masbate this Fall and opening a dive shop with fishing for anyone interested. I hope to use your tips to catch a lot of crabs for Lola's restaurant
Thank you John. We are a very happy Filipino family. Congrats on your retirement in the near future. When we go back to visit, I'll have to look you up. Please share a link to your shop webpage or Facebook page whenever you open up shop. I hope you catch tons of crabs for Lola's restaurant. We'll have to have dinner there too 😀
It's definitely getting better from the reports I've seen. The snakehead tournament is taking away my time to crab, so I don't know when I'll get a chance to go crabbing yet.
Great info! Thanks. I’ve always bought my lines but need to replace some snoods and turn an existing regular line into a snood line. Let me know if you’d ever want to go crabbing with me. We have a 23’ Xpress X23.
Great video. Just got my boat and definitely going after md blues this season . So how far apart do you set baits? And are there any advantages of using snoods. Seems like it would be harder to net the crabs 🦀 with a snood . Extra step . Dunno Thanks for your time
I space my baits 5-6 feet apart. The closer you put them will mean you will have more line to bait and unbait. You will also have to keep on your toes with crabbing is on fire. It will be a quick trip if that was the case. When it's tough, it's not worth the extra time and cost of bait. I found that crabs tend to hold on longer with snoods. When I ran a straight trotline, I caught crabs, but I noticed that crabs were dropping off early a lot. When the bait hits your roller, it sends vibration down the line and the line would sometimes spin. With snoods, this does not happen and crabs sit lower in the water. You'll catch crabs either, but I feel like my catch ratio increased with snoods.
I started out using a straight line and started experimenting with snoods. I noticed that crabs were dropping off early on a straight line when it hit my roller and it would sometimes spin. This doesn't happen with snoods, so I change my entire line into snoods. My catch ratio increased and I never looked back. It really just comes down to personal preference. The fall seems to be great this year. I hope to get out soon.
A spool is not needed. You just have to place your line in your container making sure it doesn't pile up in one spot. You can see me baiting my line with clam bags in this video ruclips.net/video/iTNcFdS9hAk/видео.html. I'll make another video showing how I do this with chicken necks in the near future. Thanks for watching.

I'm glad to help. Ask as many questions as you like. A piece of chicken neck is on the end of the snood and the crab holds on to that. You net the crab and knock them off of it. I've been looking online for loctite #5 and struggling to find it. You know of any suppliers? I'm on the Eastern Shore of MD. Do you order it online? Thanks!
I picked mine up at Bay Country Crabbing Supply and Tackle in Edgewater. You can also try Angler's Sports Center, Chesapeake Outdoors or Captain Bruce's Crabbing Supply.
I am new to crabbing and I have a question if anybody could help if you're using 600' of trautlein can you still use traps to if so how many for Maryland
As long as you have a crabbing license. With a Maryland crabbing license, you use 1200' of trotline and 30 traps at the same time. Here's a link to the regulations www.eregulations.com/maryland/fishing/blue-crabs-chesapeake-bay/
The closest thing I could find on Amazon is this amzn.to/3dLZHmd. I have used this line for traps, but not as a trotline. Here's a link to where you can buy the type of rope I use online captainbcs.com/crab-line-white-recreational
@@TomyTekOutdoors thanks for all your help. I just ordered all the supplies to make my very first trotline and hope to have it ready for my first time using it next week.
Very helpful thanks! I’m going to try and make mine this week!
I'm glad to help. I hope you get em. It's a lot of, but can be challenging in the beginning.

Nice work my brother
Thank you. Can't wait to get back out there.
Thank you for all your videos. I am almost ready to want to try to run a trotline for some crabs.

Is there any advantage to using snoods versus strait baiting to the trotline?

Thank you. Glad to help. I appreciate the invite. It would be awesome to crab with you. It should start getting good soon.
Thanks for the knowledge. Have been using zip ties for my 1200' of trotline. 200 zip ties per trip adds up
Wow. A slip knot works great. Thanks for watching.

I’ve been doing this for a few years now, tying a slip knot strait to the line definitely beats snoods for baiting and unbaiting

Have to make my own line after getting last one wrapped in motor. Any advice on how to put it in the bucket or should I be using a spool?

How does the snood line catch the crab ? Do they just hang on until you pull them up ? Sorry I'm interested but never did it or seen it done
