I just purchased affinity publisher version two, and I hate… Absolutely hate the dark background of the toolbars and all that stuff! Is there a way to easily switch it to light mode instead of dark mode?
I am completely new to this software, and it's decades since I did some desktop publishing at all. For me, "new features" videos are unhelpful. I need videos that start at the beginning, using 2.0 without knowledge of earlier versions. Where do I look?
There are major problems with memory usage in new Affinity version 2. Publisher uses huge amounts of memory on just one file, no matter how small. How do you fix this?
Hi, can anyone help me please, I've created a book on publisher 2 on my Ipad. When I try to export it as a PDF, it's saving all the pages separately. I have selected all pages and it's still doing it. Many thanks.
If it's a subscription model you will be not allowed to stay with your current version, it is very much a classic model just how we purchase software in the 90s... they released a new version every 2 years you need to make a decision are you buying new Windows / MS Office / Photoshop or are you skipping and keep using old one cuz you own it already :)
No excitement from me for V2. As a user of Affinity Designer, Photo and Publisher almost from its inception it is disappointing that Serif have decided to treat their loyal customers with almost Adobe disdain by not offering current users a heavily discounted upgrade, which is the norm for almost all other software vendors. Yes, they are offering a 40% discount, but that applies to all purchasers, so no loyalty discounts for current users. I can buy all three products again for US$100 (minus 1 cent) which translates into my local currency to $166. Then in 2-3 years I will be hit with another full upgrade price or possibly some sort of subscription. That is not an attractive option to me. So I will continue using V1 until it breaks and then I will look around for another option, but not Affinity or, God forbid, Adobe. So this is one loyal customer of Affinity that Serif has lost for the sake of a few dollars.
It's not that they are not treating you as a loyal user, it's that they expanded their discount to everyone else (specially because of the MS andApple store mechanisms). Same thing happened when Designer for Windows arrived Now, if you take Designer as the measuring rod, they supported it for 8 years; there is no telling that you'll have to pay in an specific amount of years, but you'll be covered with updates until then, and you can use it afterwards for even more time
I still learn how to use Affinity Publisher and I'm quite a fan. Before that, I used Scribus, a free and open source program, of which I am a fan, too. It has a learning curve, but once you understand its philosophy, you can achieve anything you want with it. Together with the also free Inkscape (like Affinity Designer) and Gimp (like Affinity Photo) you'll have a powerful graphics suite for zero dollars.
Honestly, all this bs not needed. Old version will work more than fine as long as you keep your computer working. Unless you one of those who loves to run for the new versions, it is not too expensive but not really worth it, why don't you try it before you buy. Ask yourself if you really need a new version. My answer (for my self, was no, not really)
Fair points. The beauty of Affinity is if you already own v1 and it's doing everything you need it to, you aren't forced to upgrade. V2 does NOT remove v1 from your system either. You can run both side-by-side if you want. Personally, I feel like I got more than my money's worth from V1 (all bought on Black Friday discounts for SUPER cheap) and want to support Serif and their continued use of a paid/ownership model vs. subscription garbage. I didn't need to upgrade, but I wanted to vote with my wallet. There are definitely some nice new features - and I'm a fan of the new universal license, which means I don't have to buy it again to run it on an iPad or if I decide (for some reason) to get a Mac one day. Really liking what they've done with more of the live filters and non-destructive RAW editing across Designer and Photo too. I normally use Publisher most though, because I can easily jump into the other two without changing programs.

It’s $100 for all software on all platform with potentially 5-8 years of free updates, it’s a great deal.
