For those that do not understand instrumentation, Grambling is suffering from an unbalanced band. It happens. With the number of baritones compared to the trumpets and French horns, there is no way to compete. It takes about 5 trumpets to match the sound of one baritone. So yes the trumpets are not going to sound as if they are playing. You may hear a note or two but you won't hear the parts with that many baritones. Moreover, programs have to deal with the band they are given. Yes it is a down year for them and they are probably very young, but I don't think some of the critics are justified given the instrumentation of the program. Alcorn is having the same issues with a more balanced instrumentation.
Neither of the bands sound particularly good in my opinion, but alcorn does sound a little better. Also song one by gsu was Luther vandross till my baby comes home and unless things have changed the student understudy's compose the bands arrangements. Back in my day we use to call alcorn slaw corn.

Do musicans of the band do cut like many dance squads? Grambling might benefit from cuts until some of them are ready.
