    I am glad you had Bro. Johnson on to talk about the WEB. I know your a Byzantine guy and thought this would be interesting for you Dwayne and others. I have the WEB on my phone and refer to it often. I like that I now have Majority Text translation.

    I like it a lot. I definitely want a physical copy. I remember many years ago, I noticed that something in one of the Apostle Paul's letters where they translated it inaccurately so that it didn't make sense as written. I don't remember now which verse. But I contacted them, and they were both humble and receptive, and acknowledged that I was right, and they fixed it, which I really appreciated. This was in the early days when the version first came out, so it wasn't completely surprising to get one thing wrong in a project of this magnitude. And I see that Michael is still honest, humble and very hard working. Total respect!

    These interviews have made me curious about the WEB. I noticed there is also a messianic version

    Excellent series! I have a paperback edition from 2015, but use the digital editions most often. 😎👍📖
    Would Hashem be a viable reading for Yahweh for a Messianic Bible?

    • @kahunapule
      @kahunapule Год назад +2

      Yes, for some Jews. A Jewish friend of mine said that if you ask 2 Jews a question, you will get 3 different answers. He was not wrong. There was a lot of debate. We chose the best consensus.

    I like the World English Bible. I like the crowdsourced nature of it. I want to use the WEB as my primary digital Bible for a while. I'd like to listen to the whole thing also.
    If I was involved with this translation, I would have focused on one thing, "prophecy". What do I mean? I would have made sure the vocabulary was consistant so an individual could search "sea" or "land" or "stone" and accurately find them in the rest of Scripture. I am nervous in some translations there can be issues with this where a verse is translated such that it doesn't link well with other verses properly.
    I don't fault translators if they make an error in this area or make it confusing by using stone, pebble, rock etc which doesn't lend itself to searches well.

    Thank you Michael for this reliable (and open source!) translation that I can produce free audio versions of without copyright issues 🙏 I’ve only tackled the gospel of John so far, but it is available on my RUclips channel with an mp3 download. I opted for the British edition. Other than Yahweh versus LORD, are there significant differences between the 3?

    I have the WEB on my Olive Tree app, I enjoy reading it. I wish someone would produce a high quality Bible using this translation.

      Broken Yoke Publishing has a nice edition. I purchased the first edition they produced as well as the soft leather cover edition and both are very nice. Smaller size and portable, sown binding, words of Jesus in red and with blue verse/chapter numbers and headings. I have been using it almost everyday. I see they now have an edition with 10 point font size and the apochrypha. God bless 🙏

      @christophermorton7680 Thanks for the information, I have a paper back version, but the print is very small. I'll check out broken yolk. There is an audio app of the web bible, I listen to it a lot. 🙏

      @redsorgum Awesome, I'll have to look for the audio version because I like to listen at work. I will say that the editions from BrokenYokePublishing that I have also have small print, I think around 8 point font, and on some pages it is less dark than others, as is common with many Bibles, at least that I own, but as a whole it's very readable.

      I don't know much about him, but Wayne Mitchell had reached out to me and sent me a copy of his 4th edition of the Greek New Testament. It appears to be a critical text edition with less emphasis on the shorter is better canon.

    The question of the translation of the Hebrew words, YHWH and ‘ÈLÅH.ÎM, into other languages has been decidedly and authoritatively answered for us by the invariable practice of the the Greek New Testament, which renders them as KYRIOS and THEOS - LORD and GOD. So, the receptor languages should be using their common words for “Lord” and “God”, rather than transliterations etc..

    Ask him about why he didn’t include TR verses?

      The very few places where TR and Majority Text differ are documented in footnotes, with a full translation of the TR there.
