Once you go through the documentation, clean her up and figure out where you are, it will great to hear the plan. Necessity may intervene, but we'll enjoy what you teach us how to repair. Happy New Year! Jeff Win's!
Thanks Doug for bringing the D9 home safely so we get more video of the engine disassembly. Nice truck & trailer as well. My cousin lives in Boise. Hello from Toronto, Canada!
Great video Jeff thanks for sharing the trip from Richie Brothers to the Paydirtarossa. Doug has a very nice Truck and trailer. Looking forward to your next video stay safe Jeff.
All made for great viewing bro, hope the engine is not to costly to fix. Anyway first of January 2025 tomorrow here in NZ so happy new year to you and your crew. Safe travels y'all. Ken.
Nice video of moving that nine, to bad it has a bum engine, good luck with it. Nice drive from the auction house to home , probably the only way I'll get to see Idaho country ,looks interesting, I'm in northern Maine, commute would be a bit rough for me. LOL. Dave D.
Hey up paydirt thanks for the sweet road trip some beautiful scenery, Doug's truck seems to run really clean, it looked like you needed an escort vehicle some off the time is that why you didn't dragit home with your truck/trailer thank you for taking the time to film all this
I hope you don't have as much work in getting this D9 back in service as the last one, Jeff. Other than the engine and batteries, I hope you don't find a lot more issues. Have a happy New Year, Jeff.
Always liked the T800 styling. Don't miss the traffic like You suffered through getting to Perry. Good luck with Your newest acquisition Jeff. Best Wishes to Doug and everyone at Anderson Construction !
Ran a D9H for many years up here Tri-Cities Washington area that poor thing been neglected. I loved operating the I sat on didn't have a cab just the rollbars and push large quantities of dirt and rip basalt rock all day long and not complain.
And it looks like Jeff Wins again... God do I remember that stretch of hiway... Driven it thousands of times over the years... And train horns on a truck is a good thing if done correctly... My 02 had a set of BN 5 trumpet horns on it, fed with 5/8" air line, and it's own air storage tank Loud horn for my 02...
Jeff, with all those D9 cabs lying around, would one fit that open canopy D7F you bought? It looks like Cat used the same angled cab on the D7G, D8K and D9H. Popping the one from the parts D9 onto the D7 would give you a medium-sized enclosed cab dozer good for colder weather and dusty work.
WOW it sounds like a Fairbanks Morse in the cab.lol hit & d9 cool thanks for the wonderful video s I always look forward to coffee and another win . Had cataract surgery so now they are as clear as mud lol 🎉 happy new year Jeff and fam.
Can you use a non contact thermal gun on exhaust to check for a cold cylinder, years ago we used temperature crayons on exhaust not that will help with rod bearing diagnosis.
What the Hell was that cross over switchback up the whatever was that under the over pass I thought has one of your state's changed to driving on the left like us normal people do in Australia. LOL have never seen anything like that.
I have purchased a few pieces of equipment throughout the years that were being sold due to the engine having serious mechanical failures. I got lucky a few times with it being just a fuel knock.
Did you get through the scale clean ? Not having flagged the corners a problem? I would’ve liked to see how you secured the cat too. Thanks looking forward to the engine tear down.
If that cyl had no fuel there would be no rod knock. Pinch that line(#3) so no fuel, and repair/replace line later. Or just leave line nut loose while loading.
I know it's after the fact, but you might have used a mag mount amber caution light on your pickup, like the one I sent you a while back. Can't wait to see the repair process.😇 Brian W.
I didn't know I would be playing pilot car lol oh the one you sent keeps burning up accessory plugin on the truck, it's like it's pulling a lot of amps, where do I look?
@@Jpaydirt It depends on what your accessory plug is fused for. The lightbar I sent you is a dual halogen rotator if I remember correctly. Between the bulbs and motors, the minibar will pull at least 10A, so if your power outlet is fused at 15A, it might get warm without blowing the fuse. If you have a dedicated cigarette lighter, they are usually all metal and fused at 20A. Sorry to hear about your problem. I can send you a LED minibar that shouldn't have any current draw problems. I will look up your shipping address, or you can post it here. I'll ship the LED minibar shortly after the new year. Once again I am sorry for the electrical problem . BW 🤥
Bring home how heavy the whole rig is making those climbs. My son runs a "B double" interstate and he is right around that 150,000lb mark. New 625hp Cab over merc sleeper. Limited to 100ks or 62.5 mph. Goes interstate. He hates hold ups approaching climbs! Momentum is everything.
If it has a nozzle pouring fuel in, and was kept working..........hole melted in piston. Should be easy to spot from blow by. Honesty, when a machine has been neglected and/or worn out and ends up at auction.....it needs a rebuild to ever be considered reliable.
when a cat PC engine has a bad nozzle it sounds like a rod knocking,,,,,,bad! but not a deep knocking like this one, pc pistons have a steel heat plug, never seen one with a burned hole thru it
@@Jpaydirt Steel heat plug........learn something new every day. I have worked on the D8-14A, but it was so long ago, I cant remember if the pistons had those.
I know you said something about not buying Matt's D9, but when you think of it, the cost of hauling it out to Idaho may have offset the cost of an engine swap and you never know 'Ol Scrappy Sam might have been willing to give you a deal on hauling it? One thing is for certain, Matt doesn't have a use for it, other than the yearly Steam show.
That is the sign of a skilled operator knowing how to nurse a sick Cat up on to the trailer without tearing up the whole engine. Great haul video a guy who knows his craft well goes to show that skills still means something. Professor Paydirt is in the classroom on operator skills.
@tomcander3669 hey it just shows that he can get a dozer with a bad cylinder on the trailer without doing more damage to the engine. Could you do that. Besides I never mentioned anything about Jay driving a truck. It's meant to be a compliment to his operating skills it's more than pulling levers and pedals. It's knowing what a machine can do the operator can do and not tearing up the machine more than it already is.
@tomcander3669 must be nice to hide behind a keyboard and know what someone does for a living there little man. LMAO but anyway have fun with your keyboard there big boy oh yeah stay safe in your basement.
Great video..!
Look forward to the engine assessment.
Thank you sir.
Nice haul, that’s some sweet trailer he has. Can’t wait to see the autopsy on the engine……
Jeff … that was another fabulous travel video! Thanks for sharing
Happy New Year! Jeff Wins!!! A really great vidio. Liked the highway views enough to watch again. Great editing.

I have seen Doug Smith Trucking on a lot of belly dumps and side dumps. I guess they hire out to do heavy transport too. Enjoyed the video

I'd like to see another teardown video!!!
