I, for one, am very glad that you offer this content in English. I love seeing my home country through the eyes of actual Sri Lankans. As a regular traveller, I am not really interested in the shallow perspective of an outsider (tourist) to any country. I'd much rather know what the people who live there love about their country. Keep doing your thing your way.

This is VERY true. Nothing bothers me more when the titles are in English, but the vids are not.

You both cut through the mustard so generously for all. Hope your able to showcase the lessons drawn from within this incubator presentation, face to face through the art of engagement with both school kids and educators; Free their imaginations to engage with the rest of the world via the digital web in whatever field they choose. The greatest gift you can give them....reliable, relatable and transformational as always...

Thanks a lot upali. This is something we have been wanting to do for sometime. sure we'll find the means to do so in the near future.

@@Sheneller Along your stops off, I witnessed many who were curious? Especially those school kids who would try to contemplate the extent of your online techincal prowess. I feel you folks are on the verge of becoming household names, if not already ;)). I can visualise a digital travel channel syndicated both online and through paid subscription, like a NatGeo channel through Foxtel , etc..
Which ever the way, we loved travelling with you folks throughout the island online and so too dad (upali), he has dementia, he recalls certain areas. Your videos jog his memory ...you both give him a wonderful glimmer of hope. I can see him smile from ear to ear..🙏
      Kind regards Roshan

It’s great to see you both doing what you enjoy. I like the content that you create and attempt to take Sri Lanka to the rest of the world, a much needed boost in tourism in the current context. Love the fact that you maintain principles and ethics and influence for the better. Good luck Shenelle & Shehan!

This video is way too complicated. It should have been broken down into parts. This is coming from someone in the internet marketing business for 25 years. Starting in SEOs SEM etc. As a Google AdSense publisher since 2006 you need to cover more on subscribers/marketing/revenue PPC etc and how it converts to basic monetization. Second, there are better ways to generate money other than Google AdSense or YPP. Meaning you need to bleed off traffic to a regular 100% self-owned website. As an American, I pulled a Sri Lankan retirement visa. Also, I'm from the entertainment capital of the world. The San Fernando Valley in LA. Married a Russian woman in 2007 as we were going to move to SL and host a channel/show. Not now.....

Thanks for your feedback Mark O! this was our first time doing such a work shop hence we appreciate any ways in which we can improve on it.
And to answer your question yes we are focusing on moving our viewers to our website mailing list. looking at other value additions we can provide too. although we started on just one platform (Instagram) now we are focusing on building multi platform presence currently over 10k on each platform.
Goal for now is to build the brand rather than on focusing on best revenue models. Once the brand is well established all the revenue streams will flow.

@@Sheneller I've caught a lot of your vid's. There isn't anything too brand. Sorry to be harsh, but it's true. Granted, your production value is without question, award-winning. This is your biggest talent and your wife's command of the English language. Other than that, your storyboard can get uninteresting. Honestly. Your business model now is trying to educate the market. The country/culture is not that big and next to a powerhouse of a country that is. India. MANY people/vids have covered SL as yours get deeper into a culture of 20 million. In short, you outclassed the neighborhood. You need to think of a new business model. Example (mine) storyboard. An American and Russian couple move to Sri Lanka to start a life together away from home. The ugly American then gets broken down (over time) due to the excellent Sri Lankan culture and way of life. The cultures fuse as the audience follows this journey. Now insert the "same" local characters and make sure to always host travelers etc., to feed new traffic. That's how you build a brand.

Thanks for the feedback Mark. Agree that we've focused on showcasing the destination and culture far more than our personal characters (as is usually what's required on RUclips)and this has resulted in us not having strong personal brands (by international standards) on RUclips. but this was done as to build a brand piggy backing on the destination itself which has far more interest than 2 brown kids out of a developing country. It's what has enabled us to work with tourist boards, airlines, hotels and a number of international brands thus far.
Now that we are established in our craft and can get in the door with projects based on our portfolio we will start to develop further on our personal brands. it will be a lot easier than the approach you've taken because we're already known to a few million viewers.
We tried your approach 5 years ago. It works if you are Westerner in a country such as Sri Lanka of Philippines where the masses crave for foreign validation. When your a person from a developing country it does get a lot harder to build an audience online. Cause even someone as yourself would not be interested in us if we were vlogging our daily lives in Colombo Sri Lanka.
Appreciate the insight, feedback and recommendations. 🙏🏼🙏🏼

A counter to that viewer argument is that i know many travellers from areas such as Australia or UK are interested in seeing “hidden gems” and places that are recommended by locals. I often look up things from the places I fly to from people who are either locals or those who are foreigners that live there for work or other things. It’s more authentic than the “westernised” things you see online in terms of recommendations
