- This is my play-through of the mission 'Dust To Dust' where finally we are at the end! With most of Price's friends dead it's up to him and Yuri to kill Makarov. Is this the end for Modern Warfare?

Edit: lemme set the record straight. The people saying "Oh, YuRi SpEaKs DuRiNg ThE fLaShBaCk" correct but it's just that, a flashback. He's not speaking directly to Price as if you're controlling him while looking at Price. The flashback scenes are different to the cutscene of which you're playing as him in. Price is there in the actual scene whereas Yuri is in the flashbacks scene, not in the scene where the confrontation takes place.
I mean, they had to. Imagine playing the last mission as Cpt Price, and he isn’t even speaking. That would be a scam.

9:15 what’s crazy is that Yuri tried to stop makarov during the airport shootings in the same condition he’s in but failed so for him to save price was just the perfect revenge. He did it all for his country and what he failed to do last time a true soldier and Russian.

You can tell that by the end of the game that Price had already forgiven Yuri. And that fighting alongside him reminds him of Soap and all the times they saved the world together
Price forgives Yuri? What?
Yuri. He initially joins Makarov for his country, then faces betrayal. Later, he aligns with Nikolai's men, risking himself for Price and Soap, enduring close battles with them. Makarov kills his newfound friend Soap. Despite friend's death and all he's done, Price treats him poorly. Even with no obligation, he aids in an attack against Makarov. Ultimately, impaled on metal, despite wounds and mistreatment, he sacrifices himself to save Price. While this guy may not have a great personality or depth, just this single act is enough to love him. Despite being treated poorly and enduring hardships, he repeatedly sacrifices himself for goodness and heroism. For instance, when Soap is abducted by helicopter, he accepts staying behind without hesitation or questioning, not even knowing Price or Soap at that moment. In the end, he dies to save Price. Price better hope Yuri forgives him, lmfao.

For real, the pacing seems so out of place and rushed from time to time. The fact that this game simply told the story between the three games and made it godly without continuing it through a shitty battle royale or underwhelming spec ops reboot shows that they had it back then
Looking at Makarov’s hanging body and seeing “Objective Completed” pop up in the top left hand corner of the screen still sends shivers down my spine and puts a smile on my face to this day.
10:00, I love how they use that subtle version of the MW theme.
Yuri did have affiliations with Makarov, in the end, he wanted to change sides and defeat Makarov. Yuri sacrificed himself, for Price and for Soap. I hope Yuri and Soap are out there somewhere, doing something together as friends.
Let’s hope so if there’s a good afterlife right now let’s hope Soap and Yuri forgive one another and give each other a bro hug telling each other they did the best they could for there great Earth world one hundred percent indeed oorah!

Idk why but coming back and watching this scene makes me realize how good this game was.... makes me really wish that COD can go back to the good days, but idk why even when I played through the first time seeing the "objective completed" one last time when you FINALLY kill Makorov gives me chills everytime. I guess maybe because of the whole adrenaline rush and crazy things that were happening in the mission, then it gets silent and knowing that this is the end of the MW series kinda made me sad but satisfied. MW is definitely my favorite COD series by far and love coming back to look at its best moments every now and then.

What I never got was why Price hanged him while endangering his own life instead of just shooting him. If it really was for story and not just for theatrics, I have one theory. He didn't care if he died or not. Or maybe even he was suicidal. His "son" Soap was sabotaged. Roach was slaughtered. Ghost was murdered. Yuri was killed. All he really had was the military, and some of his best friends in it were killed in cold blood by his enemies. He was living for them, then for the honor of them by killing those who defiled them. Did he have any reason to live once he got his revenge on Makarov?
Maybe that's why he took a smoke, not because it looked badass, but because he was trying to cope with the loss of his passion. Both the revenge and the living with loved ones. That, or I'm looking way too far into a game that, while having a narrative better than at least half of action movies...is still a generic action movie plot.
That’s pretty much it…he didn’t go in to Kill Makarov to win, find some “inner peace” and just rest…he went there to make sure that Makarov doesn’t win, no matter of cost..no tactical victory, no planned celebration after that, just pure, raw intention to kill

I always like it when an objective is short and to the point. “Kill Makarov” gives me chills and makes me want to play this again
The delayed "Objective Completed" was just so satisfying. Just watching Makarov hung from the cable as you bring an end to a man who would obliterate a country for a sanctimonious ideal makes it feel earned.
