i own this scope... its not anywhere near " small and compact" and I have purchased that very same battery...it was a good investment at first.. but then it suddenly stopped working... i bought the next bigger size and it too suddenly stopped working... I love the scope and dont mind hauling it around in the case that i bought for it.. but the batteries are absolute garbage... very unreliable !
My reason for saying that it is small and compact is by the very nature of its Schmidt Cassegrain (folded optics) design. A six inch (152mm) refractor is significantly larger, and the amount of magnification is greater (at the cost of f/10 optics however). Plus the tabletop tripod, which is what I was referring to even more, so unless you have the tabletop tripod you won’t have had my experience, which was a good one. I’m sorry you have had a bad experience with the batteries. I cannot speak to that matter, but I know that from what I have heard Celestron’s customer service is great, and if you bought through an astronomy vendor rather than Amazon you can even get their support as well. I would reach out to find out if you cannot get some help with regards to the bad batteries.
Have never had an issue. Were you using battery power the entire time? Purchasing the power plug turns this scope in to a demon. Get a dew shied/ dew prevention i prefer a custom made fan set up over their heat ring. When batteries get low it does some insane stuff. Plug it in to the wall and it's perfection all night long
great video! I am seriously considering buy this telescope, but won't have the budget before the eclipse :(
Some of the less expensive options for the eclipse are still great choices. I personally love the solar binoculars.
