    I just added a UV light last week. It’s clear now! But there’s 10 years worth of fish poop at the bottom. I need help dealing with it!

      Angel Eyes. Use wet vacuum to suck out all bottom debris. If you do not have bottom drain, you need vacuum. Lower your water level as you backwash pond before you vacuum the bottom.

    You can clean the tube/sleeve by vinegar & paper towel. The cleaner is the tube, the more effective UV light.

    So Iv got a uv light but can a pond have to much uv? Currently Iv got 25w Iv can add a 30w on to a different filter. So 2 different filter going back into the same ponds
    My pond is roughly 12 Thousand litres. It’s got Koi in it and is in full sun in the uk. Any help appreciated,

      I've never heard of anyone having too much UV in their pond. 25w may not be enough for your size pond. You could add an additional 30w giving you more than enough uv. You could also replace the 25w with a 40w. Just remember that flow rate is important. The more time the water is exposed to the UV the more effective it will be. Best of luck!

    how much uv light need per gallon or how to calculate ?

    • @BackyardWaterGarden
      @BackyardWaterGarden  3 года назад

      Most UV lights will give you a range of the amount of water they will treat. Use a light that is slightly stronger than you need. Your water will be crystal clear in a matter of days.

      @@salperez9004 it all depends on your minimum to maximum out put on wattages on your uv, it will clearly state on your uv either on the balast pack or the uv itself

      @@jamiechadwick2666 my pound it 1000 gallons, so if I put a 40 vbolt on a aqua ultraviolet which is designed for 24vbolt, will I damage it?

      @jamiechadwick2666 3 года назад

      @@salperez9004 if it states 24v then I would not recommend putting a bigger bulb in. You could end up blowing your bulb or end up blowing up your UV but I would recommend you get a second opinion on this one mate as I may be wrong

    Uv light set before filter or after filter best

    • @BackyardWaterGarden
      @BackyardWaterGarden  2 года назад

      My system is set up to go through the filter first, then through the UV light. You don't have to hook it up to your filtration system though. You can add a separate pump dedicated to only flowing water through your UV light. The important thing is getting maximum exposure to the light. If your filter and waterfall are flowing too fast the UV light will not be as effective and a separate pump at a slower rate may be necessary to get your desired result.

      Very good video but you might consider wearing gloves when handling the sleeve. Oil from your skin that is transferred to the sleeve from your hand can block the uv light from going through the sleeve so can decrease the effectiveness of the uv light.
