What is a radian?

So I don't give an exact definition but I think my explanation is close enough to make sense. :)
I made it into a PhD program and taught a ton actually without knowing this bit of info. I just knew how to work the unit circle. Never too old to learn some basic info!

I showed this to my students and they were more confused than before. I had to reexplain it on the board, after which at least some of them got it. It would help if you didn't do too much "chatting". Also too much repetition (how many times did you say "if you are in pre-calculus or calculus..."). This is core trigonometry which should be coming before pre-calculus anyway.
