Mathew do you currently have butterfly? a how are you managing to keep them cool enough? I bought cethosia in hopes of breeding for the first time however we’re having to house them temporarily in the house as it’s over 50c in the greenhouse as out fan packed in 🙄 have you ever known butterfly to breed in the pop up enclosures ?
The easiest option is to use groundsel if you’re able to find any plants nearby. Borage works too which is very easy to grow from seed. Heliotropium indicum is the best plant. You can get the seeds online, it’s difficult to germinate, but they will take alkaloids just from a few of the seeds left in a dish.
Dear matt when you told regarding heliconids species that the most prolifics suppresses the others : can this be controlled using a different display of passion Flowers species where each species may love to lay eggss more than the other? I am interested a lot on heliconids so I would like to ask you the best way to be able to sustain a nice population of different species of them. Can you help me providing such informations? Thank you❤️🙏
Hi Marco, Yes, it's possible to control them with passiflora. It depends on the species, for example Dryas julia are a bit of a problem and will eat everything. But, if for example you have Passiflora caerulea and Passiflora biflora growing, and you wanted to breed H melpomene and H charitonius, then both would be happy together as the charitonius prefer to lay on biflora, and the melpomene would only lay on the caerulea. It gives both species space to lay.
Very beautiful your butterfly garden🥰🥰.
Love it very much👏🏻🦋
Make a video about what do you do with an overpopulation

maybe do a video on species that do not need a heater ?
