On June 14, 1964, the Royal Canadian Air Force flew a retired Lancaster to Goderich, where the local branch of the Royal Canadian Legion was going to have it as a static display as part of their war memorial. It stayed as such until 1977, when the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum in Hamilton acquired the bomber and started 11 years of painstaking restoration. The Lancaster returned to the air in 1988 and continues to fly regularly. The only other flying Lancaster in the world is in England. On June 14, 2024 it made its first return to Goderich since 1977.
