Never mind, I got it done, and reset the tumblers with my flat tip screwdriver. No sweat, and it was an easy job. Most everyone is saying it's a tough job and don't misalign those tublers or you'll play hell trying to get them back in order again. For me it was a snap and I was finished in no time.
I'm not seeing how turning the bars messes up internal cylinders/tumblers. The lock turns with the bars and is stationary. I messed mine up 2hr ago when I turned the bars and it locked. I took out the two screws that hold the ignition lock and it allowed to turn the bars once again. When it locked though, the tumblers turned. Since I had the ignition in my hand I took advice from the comments here and used flathead to align the holes. Thank you to who said don't take apart the lock. Good advice.
You DO NOT have to pull the ignition apart to realign the tumblers. You can realign them with a wide flat head. Shine a flash light into the hole, determine which one is out of line and turn with a flat head. Easy as that. Don’t pull the ignition apart.
i saw a couple guys try that....... maybe if you very familiar with it, it works out good... thanks for the comment, cos you are right that works too, this seemed easier for us...
ok that is nice. but I am replacing the actual switch, the one the electrical wires connect to. got a new one, it is in the 4 o'clock position from factory. now to put it on and all the rest that goes on before the "switch" can be put back in the actual switch. I would like to see that done with a new one.
My ignition switch is locked in the start position, my forks are locked to the left…I can’t straighten my handle barsI can’t get either unlocked…what do I do
Be nice if you pointed out the nub on the switch before you took it out or what you did in order to get out. All I seen was you hold a screw driver under the switch and remove it.
Remove the decal on top, you will see a couple of screws, loose them, and be very carefully to put the knob away, then, put the lock clockwise to the dot on the 3 o clock position and you can get de lockpin with a small pleir out of the house. BUT BE CARREfully: because on the inside, there will be very little pins and springs, don't loose them and the heave there own location like a code. After that, you can remove the ignition switch
In the middle of a divorce here. Found out my soon-to-be ex has a spare key to the bike(2015 ultra classic limited) & might be trying to get set to move it some place while I'm at work. If I pull the ignition assembly while it's in the fork lock position, will the forks stay locked? I'd like it to stay where it's at until division of property is done. Thanks in advance.
Excellent information! Clear and concise covering all the angles. Thank you gentlemen
Your video saved me after just about slamming my head into a wall. Keep up the informative work sir!

Thanks Steve Agostino, you were the biggest help.
Fred waiting on the video for the tumbler alignment I moved my handle bars and it’s all messed up looking out for your video
I cant turn mine to the lock position unless the bars are hard left. Need them straight

Solid choice not taking it apart. With the ignition switch pulled out it allows the steering lock engage when turned far enough.
Suppose I lost my key to my bike going to Sturgis and i need to replace the ignition switch?
Wow! You made that look easy.
it's fairly simple, i'm surprised people shy away from it, and so many folks have problems with it.
I had my bike painted now it not getting fire to the fuel pump any ideas thanks
They pull all the fairing inner an outer not getting fire to the fuel pump only
How do I find the key code w/o key?

Confirmed. Flathead did it.

if i have misplaced my key am i still able to remove the ignition
I don't think so........let me know if you can
Vast majority of the time a generic barrel key will work for this procedure.
@@TheRebelyellers tried it...generic keys will only open gas tanks and bags
I misaligned the tumblers by moving the bars
U can take it apart and align everything
I did too, Dang!
Meeee tooo installing passing lamp switch
Turning the handlebars once the ignition lock is pulled out, will not change the anything inside the ignition switch whatsoever.
How i can remove ignition switch if the key is lost?
