There was a really solid analysis that debunked this fanmade theory because Inquiry doesn't work on contacting a spirit in that way, so it was impossible for him to try to contact Wei Ying's soul...this makes it more heart-wrenching bc it showed that Lan Zhan had to deal with accepting Wei Ying's death and accepting he was gone, hence the constant drinking alcohol and burning the Wen Clan mark on his chest to feel Wei Ying's pain as his own

It was just a leap of faith, because no BL dramas were being accepted in China after lots of issues, and no1 was willing to act in one. They went ahead with production not knowing if it would be accepted or even aired. 2 cast and crew members also died in a fire. They worked so hard to show the ocean deep details of the story and Wangxian's unparalleled love story that it takes months to understand every move, every detail. They made Wangxian song so heart-wrenching too, they really put their whole effort into this. Please support the MDZS/Untamed franchise, hopefully there will be a third movie for a trilogy
Zither is all about the inner, subtle and serene feelings of Lan Wangji who carries deep sad eyes. On the other hand, the flute is outspoken, free spirit sound, perfectly fits Wie Wuxian who keeps a happy face but moves with a broken heart because of his rejection by everyone.
I have watched the whole series and ended up searching for the casts and how they are right now.. And sadly, i have read and watched some news about Xiao Zhan and how those haters tries to drag him down. And I came here just to listen to this and cry..

I think the string instrument (forgive me I dunno what its called) portrays the sadness that Lan Zhan felt watching Wei Ying go into the spiral he went in and feeling helpless while he did everything he could to protect him only to watch him die, and also the longing he felt toward Wei Ying both to stay beside him and for his happiness. Then the flute portrays Wei Ying's peace that he feels when Lan Zhan is by his side and the happiness he feels that he died with Lan Zhan on his side. Whenever Wei Ying may have felt like everyone in the world was against him Lan Zhan was always there to remind him that he always had him by his side. I may be wrong as well but that is my interpretation of the instrumental of the song 😊 either way it is a beautiful piece that fits the story well!
Wuji makes me remmember when wei wuxain was wronged, the pain he was in and when Lan Zhan was punished for wei wuxian , Their friendship is really admiring , there happiness made me happy . When I hear this I feel so sad and is like going to cry even after 4 years.
