Another great game at Reading Wargames Club against Christoph. he is using his beautiful Thracians. i have not played Spartans variant, so plenty of learning. at the end i give a quick review on both factions. Please view and feedback.
Really enjoyable as ever. I was rooting for Cristoph as soon as he asked you not to tell a joke.
Hehe. He knew it was coming. He is excellent banter and i do like playing him.
Been waiting weeks for this. :)
Hopefully you enjoyed it. Plenty of learning… Fun game though.
Two beautiful armies and a very good game. I see you and your opponent were both showing a bit of leg. Trying to attract more female viewers? :)
Hi SD, I believe the RUclips algorithm, detects naked knees and shares with the fairer sex. :-).
Great report. I love the addition of showing the picture of the actual abilities as you play them. Thank you.
My pleasure and thank you for viewing.
Very interesting game, I HAVE to really get into antiquity.
side remark: at 32:30 closing ranks should have canceled the javelins' +1.
Yes the Hannibal and Alexander period have always been a favourite on mine. Re closed ranks and loosing the +1 for jav. I just about every time forget this rule…. I need it tattooed on my hand!! At least it was me that suffered with this rule omission which makes the error acceptable 😂
@@grahamswargamevault2635 and thank you for all your work.
I've only started playing Saga 18 or so months ago, and your videos, along with Saga Thorsday and the Activation Phase, have been a HUGE help with understanding game dynamics and how to play each faction.
If you ever come to Finistère in Brittany, there are a few clubs playing a lot of Saga, most notably in Telgruc sur mer in the Crozon peninsula - where I play - and we'd be delighted to meet you.
really pleased to hear I have helped.
Always use the Thorakatai with the Spartans!
Yep i have heard they are a game breaker. 2 new factions and reasonably new player. I wouldn’t do that to him.
Great Battlereport as always. Dont you loose the +1 for javelins if the defenders closed ranks in melee? Or did I miss some kind of errata here?
Yep quite right…. I don’t think i have never played this rule…. A mental blank.. still i lost out so doesn’t matter. :-)
Whould this work with smaller models? I have quite a few 15mm ancients but no larger models...
In other games when using way smaller mins we just used centimeters instead of inches and smaller bases or something (or make each base a bit more with plants, equipment etc).
I am not sure inches to cm would work. Would need to reduce table size and terrain. Might get a bit fiddly… you could base figures on 2ps (25mm) maybe put 2 figure’s on each 2p. Just a thought..
Is a "spartite" different to a spartan?
I think my speeling is poor. Think it should be called a Spartiate, not Spartite. I reckon my original speeling is a small sparkling star in the sky. My bad :-)
"Spartans" are all locals in Sparta (less helots/serfs) while the real Spartiates are the elite full citizenship Spartans (Heathguard I assume gamewise)?
