Thanks so much for posting this dramatization of one of the great books of the 20th century. I love this story and have always wanted an audio version.
I'm so glad I found this. I heard to on the radio years ago. I enjoyed it so much I bought the book. Then, When Richard 3rd was found under the car park I felt I knew a bit more about him.
Vincent Price said that the 'The Daughter of Time' was his favorite book, which was why I first sought it out and read it. I'm so glad I did, because it's an amazing book, easily one of the best mysteries I've ever read, and I've read hundreds. For people who enjoyed it, I recommend 'Shakespeare Identified', by Looney. It's very much the same kind of "true history" detective story, but the writer is the detective.
I am enjoying listening to this wonderful book! Years ago, I had had to read it for school in twelfth grade, but I had forgotten how much fun it was.....
Been looking for this for years heard it on radio four when I was ill years ago. ...thankyou. ..upload a non skippy version maybe please? Best wishes and take care
Webbo This is the bbc play from the 80s. I remember it well, and had it on a reel to reel tape recorder(remember them), which my Parents threw Out before I got around to digitizing it. Great to hear it again at last, though it was actually a 2 hour play, which Could explain the skips. Would be nice to hear whole thing as a 2 parter
This IS NOT the audio recording of "The Daughter of Time." That glorious reading is Sir Derek Jacobi's. This is some sort of hamfisted "play" and Josephine Tey is turning over in her grave!
This is butchered from a two-hour BBC play. Who on earth thought they had the right to edit it down to one-and-a-half hours??? Terrible, blunt cuts with tons of material missing. I advise anyone to search for the real BBC play, or the (much longer) full audiobook.
Yuch this sucks big time. I thought this was someone reading the book, but it's not. I'm a fan of this book but the dramatization of it is over the top and does not capture the real flavor of the book. Too bad. The characters are WAY off. Grant does not or did not kissy face on Marta, and the nurses are annoying. I find this way extremely disappointing and badly done. Whomever wrote it did not read the book.
The best version from the BBC.
I read this many, many years ago, but I LOVE listening to it. Thanks!

I always wondered whether Richard 3 was wrongfully accused. Brilliant.

Audio skips occasionally but it doesn’t detract from the story or plot. I really enjoyed this. Thank you Nathan.
How to make history fascinating! Shakespeare fans, be warned!
Brilliant❤
Skips occasionally, but still listenable. Peter Gilmore starred in the "Onedin Line" in the 1970s. Thanks for posting
Ah Its Peter Gilmore... Its a play.....

If you go to Audible and you are in the states, you will see that the Derek Jacobi title isn't available to purchase from our location.
Hamfisted? Hey, here’s an, epiphany, don’t listen.
It's the radio version published in the '50s.
got no gripe with anything but to say I like it .. it's not so unworthy .. in fact it's awesome
That is so disappointing, I would love this audiobook. I do still enjoy so much this radio drama.
Audio skips.
Sorry should've said key that in on Google!
Not bad.
This IS an extraordinary way to make history interesting, but the editing is pretty atrocious.

Poor editing was very distracting.
The skips are ghastly, unlistenable. Very disappointing.
