How's it going everyone?
Here is my second attempt at restoring vintage tools. This time I was giving a second life to a pipe wrench STILLSON WALWORTH No 14 Made in Boston USA.
Not exactly sure how old is it, but seems pretty old, if anyone has an idea feel free to drop a comment down below!
This time I used Electrolysis to remove the rust, this is such cool experiment to witness! And pretty easy, everyone can do it.

Always good to see someone doing refurbishments the old fashioned way, lots of elbow grease,ie files and sand paper no electric tools, you did a first rate job and well worth my 5 ☆ rating
Colin Askey
Thank you sir! I am glad you noticed my hard work, I spent a lot of hours sanding that wrench indeed!
Not sure if anyone cares but if you guys are stoned like me during the covid times then you can stream all of the new movies and series on instaflixxer. Have been watching with my brother during the lockdown :)
@Lachlan Roberto yup, I've been watching on instaflixxer for years myself =)
Wow ! really nice pipe wrench and turned out great !.
Thank you very much!
Such a great restoration. It came out beautifully! I was most impressed with your use of a power supply unit for electrolysis.
A very, very nice job, it looks amazing now 👏 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍
fantastic work.
Thanks for the visit
I restore anything that is old ! Electric motors and tools the most . The way you did that restore is unreal . I think it takes more time but looks much better than most ! Thank you
Thank you very much!
Coat with 3-in-1 oil for protect from elements initially and then periodically. I'm restoring my Great grandfather's pipe wrench as well. Nice work.
Remember that the imperfections are just part of the story for the tool! it's had a long life, and those little dings and dents are just scars from the journey!
Young man I just watched two of your other restorations, and now this. I want to thank you as I am disabled and the electrolysis I
was stuck with because of the car battery, but seeing you with the power adaptor, I am going to give this new hobby ( for me ) a
good go, and get me of my butt! I can only hope that in time I can do as good a job as yours, love your work, keep up the videos.
I recently purchased one lot of 8 vintage pipe wrenches and have been wanting to restore them. Now I know how. Great video. Thank you.
Watching Restoration videos , gives satisfaction to the BASE LINE OF HUMAN DNA.
Doesn't matter ,, I don't have tools and techniques etc.

Thanks, Tony!
Yeah, restore something, you'll love it!
Beautiful job mate. I’ve restored all my dad’s old Rigid pipe wrenches and know how much work goes into them. Yours are outstanding especially since you used only hand tools. Great work my. 🇦🇺👍
Thanks, mate!
lovely job, i've just restored a 14 inch chatwin.
Cool👍👍👍👍
Thanks dude!
Excellent job! Time consuming, but good job. More.
Thank you!
I'm glad you used electrolysis and didn't keep messing with it..alot of guys take it in an out or don't leave it ling enough..great video
Thank you!
Hello, I'm currently restoring exactly the same tool. Which rivets did you use for the springs and the big one for the head ?
Great job
Hey there!
I was able to reuse mine
What did he make the spring out of?
👍👍
I have the same one only smaller
Very nice job, and better than new in some respects. I think there's a difference between cleaning up an old tool to use, vs. restoring one for the RUclips audience. I know all about skinless fingers from too much sanding, but the hand work made for a better video, and will appeal to young guys with limited power tools.
Спасибо, робот!
Cn you use the solution more than once with the electolisis? or clean solution every time?
Clean solution every time, takes 15 sec to make a new one and cost you nearly nothing.
Really awesome restoration! Came out very nice, but I just wish you wouldn’t have painted the wooden handle. After sanding it, i would have just applied linseed oil, or shellac to keep the natural old wood look preserved. But it’s your tool, and I understand your reason.
👍
What do you used to protect the metal? Is there an electrolosis coating you can put on it>>??
I didn't protect this one, besides spraing it with penetrating oil and I store it in dry place. But you can make a Hot Vinegar patina to protect it from rust, it will change the color though
That's where I lose my patience... sanding and grinding. Just doesn't happen fast enough for me. lol
I saw you heating up those pivot pins to reinstall them, but were they the original ones or do you have to buy new, and if you do have to buy new ones, where can I purchase? Thanks
I reused mine pins, but you can buy round stock mild steel in big buck stores or metal supermarkets that should work for you, just measure it with calliper.
@@Take_And_Make thank you
The Stillson turned out great. I, personally, would have left the wood handle natural and just waxed and sealed it. Great job overall though.
Thanks, man!
Ya, I was going to leave it natural, but previous paint stained handle so deep, couldn't get rid of it while sanding.
Don't know why I am just seeing this. I watch tool restoration mostly, and this is a superlative job. Taking all that time to polish that thing down was worth it. #throwawaythethrowawayculture
Thanks, Will!
I've got other restoration on my channel bit.ly/2HKRLFA
Check them out too!
i bought a wrench at a goodwiil ....says AKTO on it . Anybody know anything about AKTO wrenches?
Will there still be fishing videos or is that gone?
No more fishing at this channel sorry.
Do you have a fishing channel ? because i like that you fish lakes that I do here around Edson Edmonton area
Later on I plan to transfer my fishing videos to another channel, the name will be the same “Fish Tail TV” You can already find it on RUclips, there is 0 videos for now though
okay thanks
where are you located?
Alberta
@@Take_And_Make alberta,where is that located?
@@Take_And_Make I have some vintage wrench that needs to be restored..
Well.... you didn't ruin it.
That was the plan!
Наша сода
Ага! :)
You should have stained the handle, instead of painting it. More authentic.
