I used about 3 packs of hair. I’m not sure how much hair I added in each hair, you just have to go with what you feel. As long as each braid looks almost the same in thickness, then you’re good.

I used to be the same way! Try setting up 2 mirrors, one in front & one in back of you [and take your time]. That should help💗
