hey , wanted to know I put some music on TuneCore ,( bought the publishing adminsastrion) and also bought bmi , do I need to register my songs on bmi after publishing on tune core?
May you please make a video on how to upload music using tunecores new interface? They’ve changed everything around since making it unlimited. im trying to release music soon, but I don’t know how to upload and all of the other tutorials on RUclips are outdated
If I don't have a publishing company, how can I collect publishing shares on BMI, or whomever? Can someone please help? Me and a cowriter agreed to do a 50/50 split on songwriting side. They told me that I can have the publishing.I have it in writing.
Easy - by default BMI collects your publishing portion even if you don’t have a publishing company or a publisher account with them. So rest easy. make sure the song is registered as 50/50 and you’re good.
if are a label owner and you have the publishing rights to the songs, would you use tunecore the same way but just have the label as the payee of the publishing?
Artists aren’t paid through tunecore. Only songwriters and publishers. You list the performing artist and their royalties get paid via their registration with the PRO
Hello! Can you opt-in to the sync when you distribute through another distributor? Because I’ve read in their FAQ that in order to use Tunecore Sync, your song needs to be also distributed with Tunecore. Thank you.
@@wordplaytjay Thank you very much for your reply, but I was actually asking about something else. I would like to know whether it’s true that when you want to use Tunecore Sync, you also need to have your music distributed with Tunecore. Because if it’s possible to distribute with CD Baby and still be able to use Tunecore Sync, I would rather go that way.
@@stevenvagovics Oh okay, thank you for clarifying. I'm unsure if that's possible, but in my experience I've distributed with DistroKid and had a sync agreement with Tunecore as my pub admin. That's because the Sync team had me upload my music using a third party app called Disco. I'm not sure if it currently works the same way.
@@wordplaytjay Thank you so much! They say in their FAQ that Tunecore Sync needs you to have your music also distributed with Tunecore, but I would be very happy if I could keep using CD Baby and still be able to use Tunecore Sync. I can’t get myself to use a distribution service which requires a yearly fee because I would like to have my music protected in case something happens to me and CD Baby keeps it distributed forever.
I'm trying to fill up "publishing / sync" today in Tunecore. It has a new interface and in the bottom requires Social Media links and number of followers. Does Tunecore can verified our social media with a blue badge verification? By the way I am BMI member since last week do I need also to pay 75$ for Tunecore publishing? Thanks for your respond, already subscribe.
You don’t need Tunecore if you already have BMI. You need it if you don’t want to manage all of your registrations yourself. I think social media links are for making sure they know where you’re active and now how to pitch your music. It’s not for verification
If I buy the Tunecore Publishing then I upload my song through Tunecore does that automatically register my song into publishing or do I have to manually do that in Tunecore publishing?
It does not automatically register your song with Tunecore Publishing when you release a song with Tunecore. It does start the process though. When you release a song, it will show up in your publishing dashboard. You have to go into your publishing dashboard and update some of the information like the writers and composers on the song.
It’s best for you to have your own BMI account vs them signing you up for it. Then use Tunecore to have them register and track your songs for royalties
Greetings, I have my music distributed with tunecore, and registered in ascap, should I register in TuneCore Publishing?? Is it not very clear to me? can you help me
You can if you feel it is helpful: they will handle registrations for you for multiple different agencies but it will not hurt you to keep things the way they are.
If I bough beat from beatstars as a Lease and it's said in license that I can't register my song as a Content ID etc... Does it means that I can't register it on Tunecore Publishing?
i can’t answer that as best as I’d want to. As a songwriter you are entitled to part of the publishing but so is the beat maker. you are both writers (you= writer/author | producer = composer). In most cases, you should register the song under both of your names but, you need to read the terms of your lease to know how to set the split %.
Hi, Do I only need to record them on TuneCore? Or even on BMI? I bought the pub a few days ago, and I've been waiting for a week for the music to be recorded. Usually how much do they need?
@@wordplaytjay By recorded I mean when I send a music on publishing. After I put my percentage do I just have to wait? Or do I have to do something else?
Hey WordPlay T. Jay you do you have any videos on where musicians are allowed to post their songs if they include royalty free loops from splice , loop cloud or daw loops that come from places like Logic? I want to collect all my royalties from these non exclusive licenses but don't want to do some illegal and be forced to take down content in the future?
i don’t have much experience dealing with this issue but I’ve seen these warnings on royalty sites. My issue is, how often does this become a problem? It’s mostly in places where there is some type of sonic detection system that matches songs by audio samples. I think the move is to start building your own library of sounds
Hi TJay, Thanks for the video. I have two questions. Please answer when you get the time. 1. If I have a song released and marketed via social media and through plugging, then I opt in for sync licensing via Tunecore's publishing administration service and the song lands a placement, how does the fact that the song is already out there making profit for me affect the exclusivity if the licensing party want so license the song EXCLUSIVELY? 2. If I have 10 songs in total then I choose to license 7 of these songs EXCLUSIVELY to Publisher A and the remaining 3 songs EXCLUSIVELY to Publisher B, Is this going to create any clash between both publishers or since they will only be administering a specific number of songs that have been agreed upon respectively there will be absolutely no clash since the exclusivity is limited to the songs and NOT TO ME AS AN ARTIST? Please Help. Kind Regards Vxnce
Q1: I don’t believe the licenses with tunecore are exclusive, but please read your terms so that you can decide if you’re better off letting that song grow on social. Q2: That’s normally not a problem because the company isn’t representing you specifically. Pitch songs to whoever will take them. If they want to do an exclusive deal for more of the songs, then they will let you know.

Jay, buddy of mine is beat maker and I’m looking to buy his beat so I can have that beat registered so when I Publish IG and RUclips don’t gimme smoke. Should I register on tune core ? What info should I request from him ?
The song you make from the beat is you and his creation. Each writer needs to register a work individually. He needs a publishing account and you do to. You would register the new song and list him and you as a writers. I feel like you’re talking about Content ID on youtube which is different, it’s connected to the final recording. It will look for anything that sounds like the final song. You can ask him to remove the beat after you purchase.
