We always wrapped things in fabric. Not just gifts. A large scarf instantly became a "tote" for carrying small items from the grocery store. Thank you for these creative packaging ideas! My favorite is Cozy and Joyful.
Serendipitously, today I bot some xmas cloth to wrap-up my gift to my nephew. Huh!? SMH Now, this perfectly timed video. Praise where praise is due. Thx for sharing
Many thanks for sharing this video. Wrapping with material is innovative, eco friendly and you don't get the problem of ripped paper which I have from time to time with gift wrapping. : )
Lovely instructions! One note: the ties should not be perpendicular (that’s a knot reserved for funeral gifts) - they should be parallel. You can achieve this by tying a square not (left over right, right over left)
The Japanese take care not to tie a widowmaker knot. This is when the fabric entering the knot and the fabric leaving the know are at right angles (as you did.) The knot tied that way is considered giving bad luck!
Absolutely love this! Great demonstration. Do you have any calculator for determining the size? I have a 12x12x4 box that I would like to make one for, but I want to be sure I have enough to tie the knots.
Thank you :-) i am so sick of trying to find nice paper and i am so sick of having a bin over flowing with gift wrap. I am so going to do this as my kids are now in their late teens and don't get much same with my and hubby so it will save on paper and stuff. Thank you
Hi Linda, you are welcome! 😍I haven't tried it but I am pretty sure these wraps would work with gifts of any shape. They may come out a bit different but as long as you use a piece of material that fits your gift nice and snug with just the right amount to tie at the end. I think it could work just the same as wrapping a square but with a square you will have a bit more structure to it.
Hi Carrie, I kinda played around with the size of my fabric square and found that once I laid my gift in the center of the fabric wrap I should have at least 10" on each side of my gift to play with. My gift was 9" square and 3" tall. I initially cut one square that I knew would be a bit too big and tested the wrap with one single fabric and trimmed my square to the size that I liked the best. Once I found a good measurement I sewed two squares together to get my fabric wrap. So basically I just eyeballed it at first to figure out how much I will need. Not sure if there is a way to come up with an exact formula.
Hi Melissa! Always enjoy your videos. Was wondering if there is a ratio or formula for calculating the amount of fabric needed for the gift size? Also, do you find that quilting cotton fabrics work well for this project? I have a rather large stash of quilting fabric!:) Thank You!
Thank you! Yes, quilting fabrics would definitely work to, it will have a bit more structured look but will look lovely as well. @@ArtGalleryFabrics Thank you Melissa. I do like the way rayon fabric drapes for this project but hate (well...not really) having to purchase more fabric. :) BTW, how do I insert emojis in public comments? Would love to be able to do this!
@@farmgirlw837 I am so obsessed with the soft luxurious drape AGF rayon gives my gifts! I go onto getemoji.com/ and you just copy and paste into your comment! ❤️
I did this wrap for my friend last year. She said it was the pretiest gift to ever saw. Thank you for showing.
I love this! I will try it next chance I get

The Cozy and Joyful Rayons are so beautiful. I definitely want to try to make a tote with AGF rayon. 😍
Thanks for the techniques. Thrift fun scarves to wrap your gift. If the giftee likes it they use it, if not, they pass it on to someone else.
Yes that was what i was thinking about the knot direction. However its great to see different ways of doing it!
Wonderful! I’m taking this idea to my sewing class mates - we’re drowning in leftover fabrics. Beautiful concept - thankyou! 🙏🏼

Glad it was helpful! The paper ripping can definitely be frustrating, so fabric wrapping is the way to go!

Hi Jason, We're sew glad you enjoyed our video! For a box at 12x12x4, it's about 48"-50" fabric enough to tie the knots. I hope this helps! 🙌
❣️so schön … ich werde es nachahmen um mein Weihnachtsgebäck welches ich verschenken möchte, zusätzlich hübsch zu verpacken.

Loved this video, thank you, Melissa. Do you have any tips for wrapping presents that are a different shape please?

wow
After you did the second fold over you had some overhang material. Does that stick out at the end?
Similarly wondering this!
Just wondering any ideas of what we can do/make with all the scraps?
Is there a formula for determining the best size to make the fabric wrap?
