It's depressing that to the US this entire region is just an IW game... For us it's all about achieving our goal no matter how short sighted or stupid, and the real fight against real bad people isn't reported because these soldier's fight against ISIS doesn't align with our goal of toppling Assad regardless of the real concern of who takes his place. These people's lives are actually affected by us doing bombing and drone attacks on them and then they suddenly get attacked on the ground by ISIS, and everybody knows it's no longer a "mistake" when we target Assad's forces. This isn't a game to the people of Syria, or Yemen, Somalia, Sudan, Iraq, Iran in a few years, or even Russia who has a much more serious threat of Islamic extremism (and our politics have real effects on Russia that hurt their civilians like sanctions where the US is alone in being able to dish out). Our decisions have REAL consequences for other people, Syria was a beautiful country not that long ago, now it looks like Dresden. Accurate reporting does not exist because of what is essentially Information Warfare operational security. To achieve our goals the leaders of our country must tell a noble lie, something Machiavelli talked about, only what we do is so far beyond that it's not even remotely noble, but they still lie to us anyways assuming people won't realize how bad it's gotten.
