Thank you so much for this bro! I’m coming from an almost 30 year hiatus and basically feels like I’m learning all over again, this helps tons, I am picking up fast though so.
That's 💯 percent why I'm doing this. I tell kids how lucky they are nowadays. When I was a kid, I had to learn everything by trial and error. Nowadays, there's so many ways to learn something. You can literally teach yourself to do anything with the internet! The people that did have the knowledge kept it pretty close to them and didn't give it away for free.
Always learn something from these. I have always sort of slowed down/coasted a bit before braking. I can pick up some time there for sure! Another area that I'm wondering about is throttle control on exit. Is it better to just crank the throttle wide open or finesse it a bit to control wheel spin? Some guys open it right up with dirt flying and it looks really fast and some guys kind of lug it a bit more keeping wheel spin down. I wonder if you timed the two approaches which is faster. I suppose if your bike had TC you could experiment a bit with it to see what is faster. Nice work!!!
Thank you!!! 🤔 I'd experiment with the dirt, if it allows you to go wide open and not out of control, then hold it wide open. If you feel the rear tire going side ways, you probably need to back it down. Hard pack is really the only dirt where you may have to back down the throttle on exit.
Great info as usual mate thanks heaps for sharing your knowledge. Quick question, if the corner is at the bottom of a steep downhill should you stay on the gas the whole way down the downhill? Or is it ok to coast? I feel like if I give it some throttle at the top of the hill, by the time I get to the bottom I am absolutely flying, even if I just coast down the hill with no gas
That's a similar situation. Even down a hill you'd want to be on the gas or on the brakes. Like at glen Helen on the big down hill, I only had the throttle on down a 1/4 of the big downhill. The rest is all brakes, all the way down. I can't really think of times I'd want to be purely "coasting" down a hill. Thanks again for the feedback!

Internet is a great way to learn for sure. Back in the day it was a bit harder to get all of this information.
