One of the toughest fighters I’ve ever seen compete, and one of the true OG pioneers of the sport of MMA in China back when it was extremely unpopular to do it. It’s real cool to see the UFC acknowledging these guys now.
Great story. Sometimes it’s easy to forget about fighters like this that have been crawling and battling for years for these kinds of big opportunities. I also forgot about how big of a deal Li was for Chinese MMA at the time he started.
Seriously especially in asian culture how being a fighter is basically a dishonor to the family. Just like most cultures, they want you to work a stable 9-5 and live decently and being a fighter is basically worst than a janitor in Asia because MMA isnt even developed in China. Li truly followed his passion.

I was so confused. I had to check four times to make sure Li's coach (Zhang Tiequan) was the same person they showed in the WEC clip. It's crazy how he used to be a featherweight.
I've been a HUGE fan for Chinese and Asian fighters in MMA, as there weren't many in the UFC when I started to watch. Li Jingliang, Zhang Weili, Song Yadong, Song Kenan, Kim Dong Hyun, Chan Sung Jung, Doo Ho Choi, and Yoshihiro Akiyama! Because of my Chinese heritage, I'm so happy to see Chinese and Asian fighters excel in MMA! So happy to see more and more recognition and credit given to more and more Asian fighters!
After his fight with Ponzinibio I started to watch his career and story, Man I'm Spanish and I love Ponzinibio but I can't hate Li Jingliang after watch how respectful and wholesome he is

Li beats Chimaev on the feet, in fact he finished Chimaev on the feet. However Chimaev is primarily a grappler that submits guys, this is a big problem, because we saw Li nearly got submitted by merely Jake Mathews if you remember, Li doesn't have a great ground game. So if Chimaev tries to use nearly entirely wrestling, you nearly have to favour him. If he tries to however stand with Li and underrates Li's ability, I think Li will end up finishing Chimaev. I hope it's interesting at least, if Chimaev takes him down fast and submits him, that's kind of boring.

When Khabib announced his retirement, I was a bit emotional watching him kneeling in the center of the octagon. I thought no praise is too much on this man, he deserves the name of GOAT in every respect, but the retirement is a big loss for the UFC and all the fans. Fortunately, we still have Khamzat Chimaev who seems to be the next Khabib. Li Jingliang is also a respectable martial artist. I can see his improvements after each fight. I don't know how much he has improved this time, nor how much Khamzat is affected by the Covid. Hard to say who eats who, but it will be a great match. Wish good health to both of them.
