Since becoming a mom, I feel really stuck in a rut of comfortable and baggy clothes, and I know that I would love for that to change. I want to feel more confident, and more beautiful and excited about my outfits, so at the beginning of the year, I am sitting down with myself to figure out what is it that I want to wear this year and what style am I most drawn to?
I want to define my style, I want to get to know what colours suit me, and what clothes suit my body, and then I want to set out to build a capsule wardrobe by buying / making clothes that I am absolutely in love with!
So I am starting a new series on my channel about HOW TO FIND YOUR STYLE in the hope that my journey to finding my style will be educational and informational for this lovely community. So if you're equally as confused about your style, join me on this adventure and let's figure this whole style business together.
Here's the plan for my new series:
I plan to split this series into the following episodes:
    1. Wardrobe / Style Analysis (today's episode)
    2. Inspiration and how to filter and apply fashion content
    3. Identifying which colours suit my skin tone
    3. Identifying which clothes suit my body type
    4. Capsule Wardrobe
If there are any requests or anything that I might have missed, please let me know and I will for sure consider making it a part of this journey!
Thank you so much for your support,
I am personally so excited to find my style, in the hope that this year I will be smarter when it comes to choosing sewing projects as well as choosing what clothes to buy when I add new things in my wardrobe.

I love your hair rn it suits you so much. As a seamstress in the Caribbean I love to see your projects it's like having such nice company. You seem to really feel strong in black and white which makes sense they are classic basics but since you seemed to express and interested in color I think you'd enjoy finding colors of fabric that work well with black and white and that suit you. I also feel like a few patterned piece add a lot of interest in a wardrobe and there so many black and white patterns out there that I think would look stunning on you and in going along with the capsule wardrobe idea they'd pair well with any other basic tops and coats etc. I think analysis really does help with structure and direction but we must always remember too to buy fabrics we love in colors whenever we see them we just think they are gorgeous I think when we mix love of fabric and style with what what we analysed suits us we really would be winning. Excited for this series and seeing you loving what you wear this year.

Love this Alex ❤️ I too feel extremely lost with my style after having two small humans. It wasn't something I worried about after having my first baby as we were in lockdown. Then I was pregnant again about 18 months after having my first baby so was back in maternity clothes again. I have no plans to have anymore babies so now I feel really ready to sort out my wardrobe and make and buy things that make me feel good! I am just heading off now to try and find photos where I was feeeeeeeling myself.
By the way you looked so cute in some of those outfits you showed. The boat outfit in particular 😍😍
Am also about to go and watch the rest of the videos in this series.

Alexandra! I am so thrilled for this series! I’m turning thirty this year and I feel like I have lost my sense of style! I’ve been focussed on my graduate studies, my career, and my relationship for the last 6 years. Although the results of focussing on the career/family aspects of my life have been gratifying, I never had time to focus on myself or my personal style through most of my twenties. I went on an accidental shopping ban and now I have very little clothes aside from the few things I’ve sewn. I will absolutely be joining you on this journey, ever step of the way!!

Ah hello! And congrats and all you achievements over the past years! Yes I also have very little clothes in my closet - I went on an accidental “de clutter everything you don’t like in your wardrobe” and before I sewed and bought clothes I wanted to have a clear direction!
Thank you for joining - video 2 is out now, hope you enjoy! Xx

So nice seeing this video after having a lil convo about fashion and style. Accessories are so so important! It can be a hat, a nice purse, so shiny bracelets or just a some funky hair stuff. Many people focus on clothes suitable for their body or age, however I feel that is so very important to dress according to your personality and what’s inside. Can’t wait for the following videos. Love you, Sandy!🥰

It's always a joy to listen to you, I've said it before your energy rocks. Trying looking my past pictures to figure my style I found myself in a predicament, my weight changed this past few months and I'm very glad I gain some , but to be honest I only like confortable, stretchy type of clothes now, looking back I wear a lot of things but I remember being mostly uncomfortable most of the time. So I guess I should learn to make everything on sweatpants fabric?! 😂😂😂omg anyway I'm down forthis journey

    • @AlexandraBurnett

Thank you for watching and joining on this journey. I heard someone say that style is about how you feel in your clothes not just about how you look in your clothes. So if you feel free and comfortable and confident in clothes that are stretchy and roomy, than I would lean into that, because that’s going to create the most joy in your wardrobe. ❤️❤️❤️

@@AlexandraBurnett Of course! Ever since the lock down my default outfits have been pj pants and what ever shirt I have on hand. I have honestly forgotten what's its like to "dress up and feel good" to the point where, when I do have to dress up, nothing feels right. I know I am a casual dresser in general, but can't wear pj pants everywhere. And now that i am learning to make my own clothes, this is just what I need, step by step guide to further how I think about my clothes.
