Often times, the best way I can describe liminal spaces as fever-dream like and having intense loneliness. I often wake up, everything is dark, the house is empty yet there are lights, it’s like somebody is home, yet nobody is there. Another one happens a lot in malls or kids places. It feels kinda creepy
I'm so glad you made a video on color schemes in liminal spaces because I've always thought the best images had very clear color schemes in them. I love the images at 1:03 and 3:03. I don't know if other people feel this way, but I also think hallways or rooms with low ceilings make images feel more liminal- which is why most pictures of empty malls don't do it for me.
@Shookey I have a reacurring dream of my grandparents house and for some reason it has a third floor which has pool tables and outside there’s a pool with alligators. In the downstairs there’s a hallway with guest rooms but each hallway ends in a living room with a door leading to a new hallway. The dream is overrall very confusing and in my dreams I only ever remember going down teo halls in. It appears there are 3 but all I remember is it’s some sort of like tomb at the end. I have no idea where this came from as I didn’t have any childhood trauma but after thinking about it for a while I’m reminded of the luigis mansion level with the cellar on the 3ds.
Just realised that my "punching alligator" comment sounds like a joke, but I'm semi-serious If the house itself is infinitely repeating and the only outside part has alligators, which I'm assuming are hostile,it could imply subconscious feelings of spiraling inwards and feeling as if you're met with hostility when you try to reach out Just my ideas based off what I got from your comment Three also seems to be a theme, maybe try looking for more instances of it while you're there

What can I say... Well, this video is perfect, it has a simple but still great editing and the time taken to talk about the subject was also perfect. Of course one of the best videos that I've seen this week. Nice job man ;)
I know of a few places I could take pictures in that would make great liminal space images. A small mall and an old flee market both with no one there at certain long periods of time. Even my own house could produce some liminal space images.
Good analysis ^^ A lot of the images shown feel oddly familiar to me. It's nice to show appreciation to the actual editors behind the images, otherwise I feel like a lot of photos just simply wouldn't feel the same without them.
Probably unrelated but an amusing thought I had with pictures of real taken photos of Liminal Spaces is that, despite the creepiness, there's a chance that it's actually a lively place full of people and the photographer just took the picture when no one is currently present on that area. Like imagine a creepy, dimly lit room at night, but if you were to turn the camera a bit on the left or right, you would immediately see the photographer's friends were in the middle of bringing in a newly-bought TV and stuff to the room for a movie night or something. Or a small, empty playground during the day, but then it's actually because the kids just left to take part of a birthday celebration that is happening just outside of the picture's area.
In my opinion, that lightbulbs shown in a liminal photo can play a big role. Becuase you don't really see fluorescent lights these days, mostly just LED light bulbs.

I've seen something you could take a liminal space image of irl. It was weird. I was at the mall, and this door was open in the hallway the restrooms were in. It was a staff only door. The hallway was a cleanish yellowish whitesh hallway, giving off weird vibes in of itself. However, what was behind the staff only door was much weirder. The walls, and floor were all cement, and the ceiling was out of view. The walls and floor were chipped, and a wall even had a chain sticking off of a hook. There was a small cramped hallway, probably like 2-4 feet wide, but it was very tall, and then at the end of the hallway behind the staff only door there was just a big open area. And nothing behind the staff door was well lit. It was all dim. Light enough to read, but so dark that you'd have to struggle to read. Some weird ass shit be going on behind the scenes in malls yall.

i want to explore liminal spaces
Another amazing upload!
thanks for the insight! this will help with my map-making :)
!!
3:02 the photographer was actually visiting Outworld when they took this photo.
3:03 That one’s actually pretty calming tbh
probably my favorite image from this video
The Overlook Hotel is probably the oldest and well known liminal space
This is quite helpful as I am making something of a liminal space thing myself :)
oh nice, good luck
liminal spaces give off the same vibe as old source games like half life and garrys mod
Can someone please tell me what the song in 3:50 is? The link in the description no longer works.
Midnas Lament - Twilight Princess
