Most definitely! I've been using Waveform since 2021, and here I am once again, referring to Zane's videos! 🙂👍 You can't take it all in at the start, I'm always coming back to his videos. I knew how to use the piano roll, but I find it annoying, so I was searching for a free alternative. Turns out, the Step Sequencer function is probably what I'm looking for anyway! I don't usually program Midi, I got MT Power Drums as recommended by Zane, so I haven't really had to do much more than take out a crash cymbal, but I think it's time I learned! 😁 I too, told the two guitarists I work with (I bought them interfaces), Audio Tech TV is the channel you need to set up and use Waveform! 👊🙂👍
Probability works great for subtle variety, such as on hi hats. You can add some fixed (sure) hits, and then some that are lower probability to keep it fresh.
Love tracktion Waveform 12 Pro. I hope their next release or update they include: 1. A smart midi tool like studio one or reaper where the mouse function changes depending on where the mouse pointer is on the midi clip. This way you don't have to manually select the tools all the time. 2. Write the aux send and return on the channels (like most other DAWs) so you don't have to keep trying to remember what comes first. 3. Dragging an fx to a channel should automatically be routed for you. 4. More drag and drop options. 5. Being able to swipe over the volume in the midi editor to adjust the volume like in the step clip. Thanks for the great tutorials. They've been very helpful!
My hero AudioTech TV! can you please explain me how 2 split a note in the step sequencer i a really a rookie still learning it for my ambiance (drill) song for the high hats... can u pls help me my friend i am a rookie im now 2 weeks deep the beats still sound a bit goofy
Hi! I've just started watching your playlist and I'm enjoying it so far. But do you have a video about the difference between a step clip and a midi clip?
I don’t think I have a video that specifically talks about the difference but as you can see in this video, a midi clip allows you to work with midi in the piano roll and a step clip allows you to work with midi in the step sequencer. Thank you for watching. Keep creating! 👊👍
How do you do to create a midi file with multiple tracks ( for example piano tutorials where left and right hands are different colors aka different tracks)
The MIDI Typing window (or CAPS-LOCK) doesn't work, but the big on screen piano works, which you find by opening the lower panel. But the big piano doesn't allow for easy Octave switching etc. like the MIDI Typing window does with Z/X. So everything else works, but the MIDI Typing, it just doesn't seem to be "sending a signal" to the "qwerty" MIDI Input on Track 1, like the big on screen piano does. Any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks! Edit: I also can't delete MIDI Devices in the settings for some reason, it just doesn't let me. It's not grayed out or anything, just won't let me click it.
hey uhm i have a problem, i wanna use my midi controller to control my plugins. in my case an harmonizer by eventide and amplitube 5, but i cant control amplitube when my first plugin is active... how do i fix that?
Hello. I'm using Lumi Keys and Waveform detects it and has it enabled for input and output but when I use any instrument it does not have any response or sound. What should I do?
thanks for all the vids been a big help. how do you change drum mapping on all clips. i have over a hundred step clips and to change each of them one by one is a lot. can you do a new row or remap a drum across all step clips please let me know thanks.
I think in the latest versions of Waveform, and most DAWs, Rewire support has been removed as Rewire is no longer being developed. I can’t find it in the newer versions of Waveform but it’s not something I’ve ever needed so maybe there is a work around. I know in older versions it had the Rewire plugin and was easy to do but that plugin is not there now.
Hi sir I have been watching your video since several years...I just have one doubt that how to change loop scale in waveform can you make video on this sir.
Hi, Does anyone know how to send multiple MIDI channels, input from Arturia Keystep Pro, in order to record the (MIDI) into say three soft synth and a drum plugin? I’m just not sure how to do this in Waveform 12, any ideas would be greatly appreciated! 😮😮🎉
Yes you can use multi output instruments in waveform and have different parts output to separate tracks. Check out this video to see how easy it is to do ruclips.net/video/HUOEC4dw7kQ/видео.html
@@AudioTechTV I understand how to do that,,,what I'm wondering is can you put the individual MIDI NOTES on separate tracks so each track shows the midi notes,,like I tried selecting just bass kicker notes and I copied and pasted them to their own track,,,,,but I could only get it to do that one time and that was it,,,is there a way to do this
Midi doesn’t have any sound in it. Midi is just data but it can send that data to a virtual instrument that makes sounds. So to change the sound in a midi track you just need to change the virtual instrument or change the preset or settings of the existing instrument.
im kinda being an idiot rn but i cant hear anything midi related, and i have an error that says this track contains midi clips which may be inaudible as it dosent output to a midi device or plugin synthesiser. how do i do this?
@@AudioTechTV sorry to bother man but all the midi instruments like guitar and drum sound like a piano. is it because im using the free version or have i done something?
@codexlol6830 the free version can use any 64 bit VST instrument and any settings in those instruments. I have no idea what your setup is but it sounds like you have a plugin loaded and the default sound is a piano. You can try changing the preset in the plugin that you’re using or maybe use a different instrument. The free version comes with 4osc try that one and change the settings so you can hear different sounds.
@@AudioTechTV will do. im using the micro drum kit, and every time i click it it changes all the sounds from the drum to a piano. if that dosent work i dont know what im gonna do.
0:40 help it's not making sounds for me. everything makes sounds, the test works, but the MIDI clip's piano doesn't make a sound nor when i place a note! EDIT: i saw one of your comments (about MIDI needing an instrument plugin) but it didn't help cause i do have instruments plugins added to my tracks but it's still not making sounds :/
Is the instrument the first plugin on the track (furthest to the left)? If yes. Does it have a preset loaded that makes sound? You can try loading another preset for the instrument to make sure it’s not that. Some instruments by default don’t have a preset loaded and make no sound until you change the preset or instrument usually this is with sampler instruments. Also does waveform get sound if you to just bring an audio clip in and play it? If not maybe it’s your audio settings.
When you hover above your track you can actually see a black bar pop up at the top of the track if you double click it you will get a detachable window for MIDI editing or whatever you would like to do with it

I know nothing about MIDI nor have The skill to use the piano on keyboard.

I don’t have GGD yet. I’ll have to see if I can get it and what’s involved with setting it up.
Can you please tell me How to change sound on midi track to a voice ?

i have an issue where the audio is not in sync with the midi

Add an instrument plugin to the track that you have midi on. MIDI has no sound, it triggers sounds in other things like instrument plugins.

in my waveform the midi typing it is not showed. why could this happen?
Why is there no sound coming out of the Midi clips?
So you have an instrument plugin on the track with the midi clips? And is it the first plugin (furthest to the left)?
So the Piano roll is not detachable?
When you hover above your track you can actually see a black bar pop up at the top of the track if you double click it you will get a detachable window for MIDI editing or whatever you would like to do with it
