I’m saddened that I have nearly reached 70, but had never heard of Louis Wain - the brilliant artist. Thank you for rectifying that omission with this superb movie, where Louis is inevitably portrayed to perfection by Benedict Cumberbatch.
This is one of the best movies I've ever seen. I watched it on my own, then again with my kids. I'm so glad that this film was made. I never would have known about Louis if not for seeing this.
One of the most riveting films I’ve seen in a very long time. Admittedly, I had no knowledge of this exquisite man and his work. The film would appear to be a glorious tribute to this “beautiful mind” and his beloved feline muses and companions. Have tissues nearby. This is positively enlightening, inspirational, and all kinds of splendid. Benedict Cumberbatch is as always, pure magic. Claire Foy is phenomenal also. The score is also breathtaking.
ditto, louis wain is one of my favourite artists of all time. i know this film is going to be a tear jerker for sure :') im so excited to cry my eyes out
I'm embarrassed to say, I didn't know about this man, but I know I've seen his cat drawings and paintings throughout my life. What an amazing, beautiful movie this is - my top one of 2021. 😀
I saw this at the Telluride Film Festival and it is so so good. Benedict and Claires chemistry on screen is so good. It starts so light hearted but the emotions flip hard as Loius life collapses around him. A must watch, I know I'll be seeing it again when it hits streaming.
It's my favorite movie and i'm so angry that it's not on prime video in my country, i literally had to take a random plane that had the movie on its in-flight entertainment list to watch it and i couldn't even finish it because the flight was only an hour, i finished it on the flight back and i'll just say it's the greatest underrated masterpiece ever. I know it's been two years but I would love a re-release of this film. It is beautiful and does not deserve to have gone unnoticed as it did. I love Mr. Wain and his work and this film of his life is my joy.
@@rowwhite9569 Yes, there is a cat death in the movie. It's mostly just suggested, but could still be a little triggering especially if you've lost a pet.
Because he doesn't need an Oscar as much as his fans want to see him get one. Stanley Kubrick didn't need an Oscar to prove he was brilliant. Oscars are swell to have but have little to do with genuine ability and brilliance.
Best film I’ve seen in a long time, The scene’s with Louis and his wife were so beautiful but also ever so heartbreaking😪💔, Such fabulous acting from Benedict & Claire🥹❤️.
Wonderful film, tightly confined scenes with concise dialogue, but the actors draw you into their element. Great cinematography, ambient, and dramatic lighting. The cast is exemplary and there are dry humor moments. Semi comedic, dramatic, and sorrowful. A movie like this (with Benedict) is another example why the English possess the best actors in the world.

I loved this film. So romantic and charming and beautiful and sad. I was reminded that each of us is unique, and we should not try to blend in or conform to some abstract norm. We should love our little lives and be ourselves.
I walked into my living room as my dad was seven minutes into this movie. We talked about maybe switching and watching the beanie baby documentary on Netflix, since I was interested in that, but we decided to just keep watching this. Long story short, this movie made me bawl uncontrollably while saying repeatedly, “I wanted to watch the beanie baby documentary!!”

my gosh, I cried with this one ... What can I say? I like Benedict Cumberbatch's style of acting when it comes to these types of characters. He has this sentiment of his own, I can not describe by words, that he gives to a character ... perhaps it is an insult to an actor because actors are not supposed to transpire through the character they play but this is another movie where I see the same beautiful human being who suffers and is portrayed so gently ... Benedict is definitely my top favorite if not the ultimate favorite actor ...
There was beauty, art and humour, but also sadness, insanity and electricity. Im already on the edge of my seat. The cast ist PERFECT. Just saw the movie, what an emotional Rollercoaster. Outstanding performance by Benedict Cumberbatch. I was so intrigued by the way he portrayed Mr Wain's nightmares and their expression in his art. THE MORE INSANE HE GETS, THE MORE ABSTRACT HIS ART BECOMES. Two of the scenes were really heartbreaking, when he cries over the death of Peter and when he is voyaging in the ship from America, asking for help because of his delusion of drowning. Love it Man simply love it❤️🧲
