Creating A New UNIVERSE of Characters (Part 1)

- Hey guys! This week I am starting on a project that I have been thinking about for quite some time. I want to create a whole new universe of original characters. Some of these characters will be based on characters of mine that I've already done, and some will be brand new. I am really invested in the idea, so I hope you guys enjoy. In this video, I focus on making the 2 part mold out of silicone and using casting material to create my base character that I will then sculpt onto with air dry clay and finally paint! The painting comes next week, so don't forget to come back next Friday.

Hey! my name is Moriah (pronounced muh-rye-yuh) Elizabeth and this is my channel....obviously. I'm 29 and like doing creative activities (mostly painting on things), or really anything that gives me an excuse to use rainbows, sprinkles and my own cutesy characters in excess. I'm heavy into editing, so my video are chalk full of sound effects, filters and lil....moments, or as we like to call them "MEmes." I paint on squishies, thrift store finds, and various other items I find. I also love to draw, traditionally and digitally. I'm not the most skilled artist out here, but I like to focus on having fun with creativity and being able to laugh at my own mistakes.

You cant forget that shes a model
I've made molds before and you did a fantastic job with it! You did good with rubber banding them together. Things will sometimes leak and you just kind of have to improvise around it, so you did beautifully! Keep in mind too that after casting so many that your molds are going to wear out and they'll start to get rougher as you cast them, so you'll either want to hang onto Mama Blob, or set your best Blank Blob aside that you can use to recast them. I can't wait to see ALL of the universe together!

I love to see Moriah challenging herself w/ clay sculpting, silicone moulds & plaster casting. It's awesome to see how much she improves over time.

@@mckenzieeliza he's just a guy who's been on RUclips for 13 years. He's mainly focused on videogames, so not much crossover between his channels and this one. But he created game theory along with film, food, and style theory. Just a really solid dude who, from what I heard, is super cool in real life too.
He was my whole last 13 years- MatPat is amazing and I am going to miss him so SO much- I read this NOT KNOWING HE WAS LEAVING so I went to The Game Theorists and just found out- Thank your telling us about him as I would have been so upset had I found out later.

Moriah, you should paint a keyboard with each key being one of your characters that start with that letter! For the keys without letters you could just do plain colors or any character.
Hello, I just want to say that my mom and dad got my little sister a Fred stuffy for Christmas and she was in tears so excited and it's all she talked about. She also got a little ME notebook and the first thing she did was draw her own version of her logo. She truly is the sweetest and brought a smile to all of our faces how happy something so small from your channel could make her. I love all your characters so much!! It’s amazing to see how much work you put in to all of your projects and designs
I've worked with the gray clay before! The reason it was so hard is because you have to kneed it, and it warms up in your hands and becomes soft. Also if for whatever reason you run out of time and need to pause on your creation, you can put it in a plastic bag, spray a little bit of water inside the bag with a bottle, and then seal it, and it'll stay wet and moldable. As for the smell... uhm, you get used to it? pff

You probably have a million ideas to work and here I go adding to the list. I would love to see your version of ocean creatures.. . A cute octopus, a puffer fish, a whale, a seashell with occupant, a clam, a sea urchin. These are just ideas that I think would be so cute in your style.

i knew as soon as you started talking about smoothing imperfections that you were making a mold!!! this is definitely a much more complicated way to make a mold than I've seen before but it's really cool

What a fabulous plan! Glad you didn't just chuck the first mold! Having 2 molds is fabulous! BTW consider setting aside a casting from each mold. Unfortunately silicone molds won't last forever and having an early cast from each will allow you to continuing creating more molds as needed. You can 'finish' each casting just like you are doing and then clear coat to have them ready to mold once you need to!

You should paint your posca lids I do it to mine and It just is a lot of fun of course I do really simple designs like drips,lemon slices, and polkadots I just use the other posca to paint them but you could do whatever
The stress of watching the time bar get smaller and smaller yet she still hadn't pulled out any paint or added any color zero sparkly cute eyes, and the button nose. Knowing I'll have to wait 7 DAYS. I could watch her for hours. I love how her mind works while making her creations and of course, the commentary is top-notch. Ahhhhhhhh.
