Thank you for your most timely film on the 28th Infantry's participation in this battle. My father-in-law who passed 3 years ago on December 9th, 2017 was part of the 112th. He was also found unconscious in a shell hole by a passing medic who happened to notice him taking a breath, moving him back to what I believed to be the 106th Medical Field Hospital. His recognition of all this timeframe was always very blurry, until he was moved back to France to a larger Field Hospital. He was wide awake when the surgeons spoke of amputating both his feet due to severe frostbite, which he fought bitterly against. He somehow convinced them to leave them, for which he was never able to tolerate cold weather again. My guess is this all occurred early in the battle since the 106th Med was overrun by the Germans relatively early in the battle timeline, after the Germans swung east of Bastogne to bypass it, running smack into the Field Hospital. You're filming of the areas where he was and more insight to the 28th Infantry is well appreciated since the first days are generally glossed over. Bravo MON AMIS!!

My father, Norman Gracie, was with the 110th Infantry, K Company, defending Hosingen. He was one of 300, that surrendered , according to the arrangements, that their commander agreed to...... That was on December 18th. Eventually he would be a POW at Stalag 9B near Bad Orb, Germany. They would be liberated in early/mid April '45.
Thank you so much for watching this video and for your comment. I really appreciate it, more videos will come in the future, stay tuned :) Sincerely, Florent Plana

Thanks guys. This is the history of the Division I served in from '88 to 2007. I would say many of my group only had an outline of the entire ordeal The 28th went through in this time frame in late '44. I appreciate your effort. Thanks again! "ROLL ON"!!!

My Grandfather, Earl Rentschler, was in Company H, 112th/28th infantry division. Part of a 5 man mortar squad. Later in the war he was a runner for Captain Charles Crain. I wonder if they knew each other ?
When you relate the location of a modern photo to the original photo it brings history much closer, people dont realise they walk through history everyday.

In the early 1990's the 28th Division flew a number of its WWII vets back to Luxemburg. The veterans walked the ground shown in this video and told their stories. All of this was captured on video and made into a documentary. I served with the 28th Division's 56th Stryker Brigade in Iraq. If I can find that original video I'll post it.
Whenever I have visited Bastogne, the locals have been very friendly once they figure out I’m an American. Thank you for remembering the combat actions and determination of the soldiers of the 28th Division. They “held at all costs”, delayed the Nazi timetable for days allowing American reinforcements to pour in, dooming this last gasp offensive in the west. Soldiers, leaders and family members of the 28th have returned to these battlefields many times and always receive inspiration and feel gratitude that our soldiers sacrifice is remembered. Thank you so very much for doing this video. Let us never forget the greatest generation that ever lived. My grandfather Captain Joseph Vasquez was part of the 28th division (bloody bucket). He was wounded by mortar shrapnel and he was awarded 2 bronze stars along with purple heart. He was a true hero and patriot. He was among the most battle hardened soldiers of the entire war.
My grandfather, Clyde McNally was in that unit. He said he would still be in hossingen if he hadn't run out of ammo
Excellent Work Florent, a worthwhile and valued Production.
Thanks

Thanks guys. This is the history of the Division I served in from '88 to 2007. I would say many of my group only had an outline of the entire ordeal The 28th went through in this time frame in late '44. I appreciate your effort. Thanks again! "ROLL ON"!!!
Excellent Video, thank you for bringing me back in time. I really enjoy your attention to detail in the photos. Keep going!!
Thank you very much for your nice comment and for watching the video. I am very happy you enjoyed it. More will come in the futur 🙂 Florent
I really like the modern format of using a mobile phone to compare the places, apart from snafu no one else is making then and now like this, and also it looks a very professional production. Some really nice touches like when you zoomed into the phone photo that transitioned into the full screen view of it, excellent work guys keep it up.

My dad was in the 28th. Company H, 112th/28th infantry division.
That’s incredible, thank you very much for sharing that info with us. I would like to go in the footsteps of the 109th & 112th IR for a new video as we were mainly in the footsteps of the 110th IR on this video. Did your dad managed to retreat or was he captured ?
My Grandfather, Earl Rentschler, was in Company H, 112th/28th infantry division. Part of a 5 man mortar squad. Later in the war he was a runner for Captain Charles Crain. I wonder if they knew each other ?
@@florentplana9560 I hope you make this video. Would love to find out more about the 112th.
Very beautiful, thank you!
Thank you very much for this nice comment. I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Sincerely, Florent Plana
When you relate the location of a modern photo to the original photo it brings history much closer, people dont realise they walk through history everyday.

👍✌️ thank you so much for Sharing I enjoyed it one day I would love to visit Europe and go through some of the historical sites from World War II were the allies made a stand to defeat Hitler and his evil. Thank you for sharing! Hello from Central New York !!
Hear the us we know it's so differently. There you still have the bullet marks the grandchildren of the people who were there that survived. Very happy that you honor our men who fought there. Very humbling.

wow what a great take! thank you!!
Outstanding.
Thank you ❤
Hello florent bravo super images vous pouvez être fier de vous et vos collègues aussi d avoir fait ces reconstitutions de ces batailles en Europe. Merci pour les explications. Christophe de Lille..
Well done! Is there a map where you can geotag the location of these vintage photos? Kind of like the Project 44 map?
Hello David, thank you very much for your comment. It’s actually a pretty good idea. Thank you for the advice. Florent
Whenever I have visited Bastogne, the locals have been very friendly once they figure out I’m an American. I drive a car with German plates and the scars from the past still taint my welcome until they realize I’m US. I enjoy a crab baguette and smile in remembrance visit the Sherman tank in the parking lot. Thanks for your channel and what you share here.
You guys make outstanding videos.
Thank you for this. I've always wanted to learn about the history of the bloody bucket. To think men like that walked the earth is amazing to me.
Signed, 34th Commanding General, 28th Division. “ROLL ON”!
Thank you Never forget

Thank you so very much for doing this video. Let us never forget the greatest generation that ever lived. I do believe that my Uncle Buddy was in the 28th and all that he told me was that he was in a recon unit and he was in the Battle Of The Bulge. It must have been pure horror because he would never talk about it.
I've always loved listening to his experiences and stories and have always had an interest and admiration for the history of ww2. God bless all the brave men who valiantly fought for our freedom
My Granpa fought in France..WW2. His son ..my Dad was Combat Veteran Vietnam 11th cavalry . Great Video
