Looking back on my road trip charging for my 2020 Taycan with 80k miles. I charged 39.9kWh in 10min at the EA in West Wendover. The car is an amazing road-tripper.
52:00 This is the way. Any manufacture that is not embarrassed of their own charging curve should show this. Charging pedestals should also show "request" power as well for their own defense. Because right now its a finger pointing exercise and the consumer doesn't always know who to blame.
800v is the absolute future for all EVs, because batteries will only get larger energy density wise and will need to charge much faster. Not physically larger, but more kilowatts due to higher energy density.
Great review. I love the detailed insights. I have a Turbo S Sports T on. order. Can’t wait to get it. Driving a Turbo Cross t currently now. I am told by Porsche that my interest in the technical stuff is not typical. Some clients have to be told what the difference between AC and DC charging is. Probably an exaggeration. Anyway. I love EV driving. Won’t change back.
Not sure why I'm watching this. An EV that starts at $99,000 is a little rich for me. I would say that Porsche should be able to build a good EV for that price.
Great podcast! A lot of current Taycan drivers would like to know if any of the huge improvements included in the new facelift will make their way to the existing platform? It seems the non-hardware ones might be easier to do. On the current charging screen, at times I see a green lighting bolt and a faster refresh rate, is that an indication the car is getting all the power it’s asking for? Maybe a precursor to the current feature? I’d love to know!
08:00 Tend to agree, prefer the outgoing design over the the newer model. Less aggressive front-side intake? (Otherwise, new model's specs are obviously incomparably better.)

if I wasn't going to buy a Rivian I would buy a Porsche electric taycan or Macan
Is the bottom of the battery pack in Taycan Cross Turismo better protected than the basic Taycan? Where I live, there are insurance companies refusing to insure Taycans and Audi E-tron GTs because apparently few cars had damaged battery packs, which needed to be replaced.
Kyle, since the Taycan and the Mayan EV have two ports for charging; could you please recommend to the engineers that for North America, please put the NACS on the driver’s side and CCS on the passenger side in the Macan. For the Taycan reverse the location.. Since they have two ports might as well use them advantageously. Adapters are actually problematic, they have a few real negative issues. This way with both ports Porsche opens up their buyers to every charger currently out there. They would be ahead of the game.
GV60 has a boost button With long range and high performance, the GV60 has it all. In the Sport Plus, for added excitement, the boost button triggers a 10-second burst of maximum output taking you from 0-62 mph in just 4.0 seconds.
Recuperation/regen from shock absorbers is genius! 😅 But with this level of effort not going full SiC in the power electronics is not understandable for an outsider. 😢
I'm an idiot, so don't take my advice, but I would love videos about how to spec various EVs. However, one tweak that I think might be kinda cool is having multiple people spec out what they would want independently. Perhaps even feature one external guest each time, just to promote a little diversity. A lot of it will probably be the same, but the differences might help someone understand their decision more in the end - and hopefully be a more engaging dynamic ESPECIALLY if you make it more like a competition, where there's a final segment where you have a final person (Francie perhaps) watch all of them and then decide on what they would spec based on the presentations. Ok too convoluted and probably expensive in terms of filming multiple people. But. I would personally find that fun!
Enjoying this video confirms I must be an EV nerd.
That’s a huge jump 20 degree drop in temp needed for high-speed charging. Look forward to seeing how it does in the race to Vegas!
Love all these in-depth details. Thanks for breaking it all down. My new dream car!

Cheers Francie and Kyle
Thanks for this awsome video. Learned a lot! Keep them comming. We need same walkthroug of Macan :-)

This is amazing progress by Porsche. I love my Taycan, and I will say the new Taycan's specs are tempting. 🤩
Rip roaring podcast, thank you Francie and Kyle, your enthusiasm and intellect shines through your filter of integrity.
Evening Francie and Kyle
Hi Kylie, this refresh is so much update ,it is like a completely new technology generation inside this car. Amazing
Thats kind of infuriating that charging networks balk at vehicles showing their request power. That's outrageous.
Love the Taycan but feel feel the priciing is unreasonable.
Oh Kyle! You had me at nerd level 9000❤
I love to listen to the Out of Spec Podcast for sleeping. Just released a few minutes bevor bed time im Germany 🤝🏻
Sweet dreams!
This would be one of the cars that you would need to buy if you want to be on The List

Taycan doesn't get interesting until $220K.

Great episode and excited to see more of the new Taycan and which car rises to the challenge next. Hoping Model S steps up on the charging...

I want a deep dive on how they were able to achieve this monster charging curve! :)
Phew... what a fantastic upgrade...

1:00:06 So how fast is RFID vs plug & charge? 😜
“I can’t share the slides, this will be a very auditory podcast.” uh, isn’t that what a podcast is? ;-)
I watch on RUclips, so…
well, clearly I do too - just being snarky, given the original meaning of “podcast”.

48:11 32 (hot!) or 23 (nice summer day) degrees?
Did they say something about nacs? Or did I miss it
HIT THE BUTTON!

taycan is so much more impressive than anything tesla can make....

Pouch or prismatic?
So exchange Vinfast ot Taycan for a Day for Francie and then ask her about. From perhaps worst to perhaps best on EV.
Quit telling us that you are going to tell us something.
Spec guide is good for Porsche. Ordering a Porsche is complicated. Others? Not so much.

I would love you to do a comparison with the Taycan to a S plaid with added suspension parts from companies like Unplugged Performance.
