Actually the first "melodic" piece i heard of this machine. Impressive!
Thank you, I'm glad people are liking the melodic element.
Extraordinary. It’s hard to get a beautiful sound like that out of this.
Thank you very much.
Amazing, I am going to informally call you the master of the Ambient Volcas. You really have a skill in bringing out a wonderful ambient sound from these Volcas.
Thank you very much, I'm really pleased to know someone thinks that.
I haven't been that enthralled with the sound of the Volca Modular in other videos I've seen, but it sounds very nice here. Great video.
Thank you. To be honest, I'd still not heard it before trying it, so I didn't know what to expect. Early days though.
I think you can get a very wide range of sounds with just the 3 knobs on the left, but it's modular and many people rather modulate everything and get weird sounds (I get it, I like bleeps and bloops too) but I've been dying for a demo like this. I bet it can be a much more practical inatrument then most demo's would have you believe.
Also the nice delay and reverb definitely help :)
Thank you. I agree about the 3 knobs on the left. I've yet to get around to the weird stuff, apart from a fairly interesting drone. It can certainly be musical providing the patch cables don't fall out :D
Damm, Steve Reich in the Box!
Wow nice Tangerine Dream/ Steve Reich action here. Def one of the best demos of the Modular. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for watching and listening.
I was gonna say the same thing good job man
Very nice! Most musical Volca Modular video on YT.
Thank you very much.
Reminds me of what Laurie Spiegel was doing on the Bell Labs Digital synthesizer that costs tens of thousands back in the day. Im a fan of using minimal gear and this is fantastic use of so little to create something so intricate. Nice job!
Thank you very much, I'm glad to hear that. I'll have to listen to some Laurie Spiegel sometime, sounds interesting.
absolutely love this!
Thanks, that's nice to know.
Great!
Thank you
Excellent use of this little synth to make a very full sounding track! Impressed...
Thank you, that's great to hear.
This is by far the best demo I’ve seen ~ brilliant thank you
Thank you very much.
wow, you got every drop out of that volca! This is killer.
Thank you very much.
That sounds as though you were using 3 Modular Volcas with 3 different patches -not one! And the way you created the Soundscape using one Modular Volca with that one large
patch is just amazing. I've got the same Volca and I love making assortments of patches on it, sync various drum machines or Bastl patchable instruments to it and run it through
an amp. I'm teaching myself Modular Synthesis, how to patch to what and why etc. I would like to have some modules in a single rack. Anyway, if it's possible, can you write out
the patch used for this piece? I would greatly appreciate it. 💥🎹🐾🔥🐒💡
I hear at least 4 voice polyphony, all generated in real time. It's uncanny the number of independent (if random) sounds you can create from a monophonic machine. Good show.
Thank you. It's just fine-tuning the audio-rate modulation and the filter until a balance of pitched harmonics are created that make musical sense.
This track is awesome!!! Genuinely enjoyable track to listen to, and for an improv using just one synth, that's very impressive
Thank you very much.
Just got one of these last week-I have a new goal thanks to this vid!
You're welcome, enjoy.
Super nice chill vibes B-)
Thank you
Nicely done, a bit of a Phillip Glass feel to it.
Thank you. Haha yes, I thought so too.
This is seriously amazing 😊👏 Reminds me of Tangerine Dream ~ truly inspirational ~ congrats
Thank you very much.
Lovely sounds
Thank you.
Quite stunning. Now I'm interested in the Volca modular. I wasn't before, but I've changed my mind.
Thank you, and thanks for telling me.
I love my Korg Volca Modular, I didn’t know it was capable of these types of melodic sequences. I have done a lot of more ambient, ethereal sounds, and grittier dark, metallic grungy tones. The range of sound is impressive.
As usual your demos are top of the line. No talking perfect use of efx and an ear for textures! Keep up the good work....
Thank you very much for your support, that's really nice to know. I might have to stop making regular RUclips videos soon, but I'll provide some updates here as and when.
Got a Volca Modular last week. Have no idea what I am doing and cannot make it sound anywhere near this good.
This is excellent.
beautiful sounds, just ordered one of these and am excited to run it through canyon / line 6 for delays.
Thank you
Great improvisation, thanks a lot for sharing :)
You're welcome, thanks for watching.
Wow...musical modular ...well done, such a change from many many RUclipsrs! Well done !
Thank you very much.
Repeat after me...Volca Modulars are Awesome...and once again repeat! Fantastic presentation my friend Excellent!!!!!!! 😎
Thank you very much.
Ace! I’ll get my volca modular out (I keep saying that about all my gear!). Cheers. Lee
Cheers
this is amazing! I just got the volca modular as my very first synthesizer and i can barely get a nice melody out of it, but really nice to hear what's possible 🙌
Thank you very much. I think it's not as easy as a non-Modular synth, there's a steeper learning curve, but I'm still learning how to use it too. Keep persevering with it though.
An Hi Don't give up. Ask people for patch tips. Learn to recreate famous sounds. It takes time.
this video made me decide to buy this. KORG SHOULD SPONSOR YOU!!
Thank you for telling me, I hope you enjoy the synth.
Sponsorship or just a free instrument would be nice.
Call Korg for commission. You may have just sold one! Great demo. I've had other volcas and have gotten alot out of them, but I moved onto Electron gear and sold the Vokcas I had...but this thing: this thing is amazing packed into a small body.
That's great, thank you very much. I wish there was a greater choice of little, self-contained, battery-powered analog synths.
Excellent work, as usual. You have a really nice touch for making gear work for you. Cheers
Thank you very much, it's really nice to know someone thinks so. Cheers.
This is brilliant and beautiful. I can't help but imagine Steve Reich watching this and slapping his forehead after while thinking "and here I am paying to hire groups of musicians to play stuff that sounds exactly like this. like a sucker."
Thank you very much.
Awesome 🎼
Thank you
Really nice. Sounds like some kind of Steve Reich stuff, but with synth. Blue thumb up , of course.
Thank you very much.
This is AMAZING. Thanks for this healing 💜
Thank you very much.
Beautiful. Get .mine next week
Thank you
This is a very tempting piece of kit. Not being midi compatible is off putting but I guess I could sample sounds and sequences and use it in that way. Fantastic demonstration, this. Probably the best I've come across of this instrument.
Thank you very much, that's nice to know.
Volca Modular can be Midi compatible. There's a Midi-in built-in on its PCB. It's just for some reason, Korg did not include a Midi-in port on the Volca Modular...
@@justinyang21114798 How fleshed out is the MIDI implementation?
@@justinyang21114798 huh...not a lot of room for a five pin input. Guessing you can mod it to use Korg's 3.5 midi in (like the sq-1)?
If you have another Korg Volca with MIDI, you can say sync the Volca with, for example your DAW, then run a sync (3.5mm cable) from the MIDIed Volca to the Volca Modular.
Fantastic
Thank you very much.
Great composition and fantastic qality production. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you very much, and thank you for watching.
Reminds me of Steve Reich's NY Counterpoint (I mean this as a compliment). Great job.
Thanks for the compliment
great job on the improv, stunning!
Thank you very much.
Great
Thank you.
Sounds great
Thank you
Lovely 😊
Thank you.
Beautiful!
Thank you.
Excellent work!
Thank you very much.
beautiful!!!!
Thank you.
Brilliant
Thank you.
nice
Thank you.
Nice!
Thank you.
Hi, really nice sounds and sequence. You would never believe all that could come from a little Korg Volca!
Just a question, is this sequence used in one of your own tracks? If so what album and which song? Thank you!
Thank you. A variation of it should be appearing on a more minimalistic album I'm hoping to finish later in the year. I'll post more info on here as and when.
@@DreamsOfWires Yes, i am waiting for this album. Any news? Still work in progress?
Thanks for your interest. I've got two albums I'm waiting to record when the time is right. I don't have suitable circumstances at the moment, and I'm not finding enough free time for it, but hopefully this will change soon.
DAWless not WIRELess. Man, great job!
Thank you very much.
Nice sounds!
Thank you.
muy bueno bro
Thank you very much :)
Wow!
Is this a single instance of the VM? Not that it matters, just curious. It's a fantastic piece. :) I'm loving my little Volca Modular too!
Thank you very much :) Yes, it's one instance, but because it's running through a good delay and reverb it adds a lot of volume to the sound.
Yes!
You got it!
Thank you.
This is really beautiful. Could you please share the patch with us? I'm finding it hard to recreate from the image. Really great sound. Also you mentioned in other comments that a piece of this might feature on a song on one of your upcoming albums, is it released yet? Thanks so much and keep up the great work!
Thank you very much. I didn't take patch notes, I only had the synth for a week. It's not released yet, no.
Love this! Can you give any tips on how to make it sound like it's producing multiple layers/multiple synths are being used?
Thanks. It's mostly the delay creating that effect, but I can't remember the patching on the synth (sold it some time ago).
It looks like its using the modulator wave as a second oscillator (routing it to the second LP Gate). The modulator is set to a higher pitch with the ratio knob, and then with the cutoff knob you can "hide it"
Nice sounds and sequence. How are you finding the mini patch cables? 3:31 really nice.
Thank you very much. Cables - the short ones have a habit of popping out, but I've not used it much yet. Once I've used it more I'll include a review in a later video.
How did you setup analog synth with app for live record? How does it works?
とても美しい旋律😭
有り難う御座いました。
Hola. Cómo grabas el audio y vídeo?
i hear some imprecisionsn in the rhythm in some points, is it a problem all volca have?
I don't remember it being an issue on the Volca Keys, but I've noticed it on this one.
@@DreamsOfWires Yes, it is pretty noticeable here and there. I wonder if that would be a problem if the modular were synced?
Excellent stuff here!
Hmm, I'll try it with the SQ-1 soon and find out.
Thank you very much.
My volca bass has a more stable clock than my Keystep or Yamaha Reface CS. Haven't noticed any irregularities with it after 50 hours.
It's strange; my Keystep is solid, but my SQ-1 isn't.
Nice! Not helping my GAS...
Thank you. I sympathise :)
Nice!
Thank you
great
Thank you.
