Why are you not changing the Burn Rate Factor B a in QL to match your measured velocity??? This will give you a more accurate pressure and OBT.And just looking at primers to evaluate pressure is also wrong. By the time a primer will show a swipe or cratering you are already way over pressured.
Hi David, Glad you enjoy the channel. This info is scattered in various places but the table here: www.the-long-family.com/OBT%20Table.pdf I am still exploring this information and will probably keep look at this info as I work on various projects so if you keep watching I am sure we will keep discussing it as we learn more.
Nodes are also dependant on barrel length. That why QL give you barrel times. I have a excel spreed sheet that generates the optimum barrel timing nodes when i plug in a barrel length all based on pressure waves aka harmonics for what ever barrel length I want to plug into the spreed sheet. 95% of the time those barrel timing nodes just so happen to match up to velocity nodes. It's not a coincidence.
Have you tried reloader 16 and that those work better for me in the 6.5 Creedmoor great velocity is very accurate why are you jumping your bullets 80 K as a way to much usually works good around 25k
I have learned a lot from you in the last year and really appreciate the detailed videos! I am wanting to run 140gr Berger hybrids with reloader 26. I am struggling to find either of the 4350's and want to try something else. Should I even bother with trying that load out? The compressed part discourages me..
I have really struggled to find lower sds with RL-26. It has huge velocity potential but you are typically running out of case capacity. If you go down this route do yourself a favor and pick up the Forster drop tube funnel. It will help you keep the compression down to a minute. I have a video on it if you want to see the differences. Don't be afraid to try an another powder that is close. Imr 4451 is great along with a few others.
Both are options I personally would prefer 4451 because of temp stability. Having exact load data is always preferred but you may try something like Gordon's reoading tool to find a safe place to start and work up from. Just be careful and look for pressure as you move towards max. Regardless of what the manuals say you have to know what pressure looks like so your not exceeding it in your application.
One more recommendation is using QL. When picking a powder for a certain bullet and cartridge combo pay attention to the graph. You want the pmax and Z1 line to be as close as possible to each other. One line would mean that the powder is the ideal powder for the combo picked. Looking at barrel time numbers does not always guarantee a good fit. Burn rate is everything. And don't forget when you adjust the B a to adjust temperature for your current environmentals you had while shooting. Junk data in junk data out.
did you ever get a good accurate load with this combo? I managed to find a really good accuracy/consistency node with this combo over a full 1.0 grain however my Satterlee development data has not worked at all for this combo.
I did not, but I haven't tried it with my new barrel yet either. I think thatif this is going to work well it may benefit from a different primer. I just haven't got there yet.
@@BoltActionReloading in my own findings the CCI 450 in Lapua brass has been adequate for the combo. I was able to develop a load where 44.8-45.8 gr has given me a window where the highest SD is 8.4 and lowest SD is 4.2 fps with my load being 45.4 gr with an avg velocity of 2845 fps in a 26" tube. It does not however follow the Satterlee pattern as the velocity just climbs as the charge increases and only 45.3-45.5 has the same velocity. Definately different than the usual pattern for velocity gain vs powder charge.
Rl26 huh? Been running h4350 with this same Projectile in my GEN three RPR. It’s been wonderful I just wish I can get my velocity up higher around 2750

Like your vids. Very informative. You mention barrel time relating to nodes in relation to length. From where do you gather that information?

Node charts could be helpful but nodes are specific to each individual rifle. Just need to test. Watch barrel harmonics video by Tiborasaurus Rex

Wow did you say you hit 53000 fps 😂. But what primers do you get less pressure signs with ? Cci ?

@@BoltActionReloading I'm struggling to find actual berger load data at the moment! I have IMR 4451 actually and some superperformance.

Please load more 6.5 loads with H4350 it’s more temperature stable. Berger 135 Classic Hunter and Hornady 147 A tip
Hi Dave, I did test the 147 with H4350. ruclips.net/video/j2O0dIPnAvQ/видео.html

Since Reloader 26 can't be found anywhere, are there other slow for cartridge powders that you think deserve to be explored in the 6.5 CM?
Superformance works ok if high velocity is what your looking for, hard to keep the sd / es down since it's a ball powder though.
What software or app are you using to make your graphs for your velocities?
My graphs are just done in Excel, but I would assume that Google sheets would do something similar if you dont have Excel.
Any thoughts on doing a run down on rl26 and the 120 & or 140gr speer gold dot? Thanks for the great content sir! God bless!
The 120 gr is probably way to light. I did a video with 140 rdf that should give close comparison though.
Who is we? More than one of you ?

RL16 is a good option too.
Bolt Action Reloading .... yeah I have thought about using it but you know how that chase goes. Thank you for all that you do with your channel.
Cant even get RL26 right now so back to H4350 While I can get it!
RL-16 works pretty good too.
@@BoltActionReloading Yeah I want to try it bad but cant find it anywhere!
It's in stock at several places online. Stupid hazmat fee but it is available.
@@BoltActionReloading ok ty I will have my local guy take a look cause he orders balk and includes our orders to make that fee worth it.
Is this a new video, sounds like a repeat.
Yes this is a new video. We build on the last video on this combination to see what velocities we can get to since we didnt hit pressure last time.
seems your not following through on the trigger pull but that may be the video

Its a LAZER
