I read the comments while watching the video I noticed how polite you were to the negative comments, you’re a nice guy. I wish that I was a neighbor of yours. You all had some good memories The most important work you will do is within the walls of your home!! Keep up the good work
Thanks!! It was a changing of the guard journey for my father in law, but he knew it had to happen. Please we were able to experience it as a family which was nice.
You can see in the other video I posted with the multiple different angles where his bucket got caught and dragged him a little. He was a little scared.
Near perfect fall. Testament to the human mind. Dead reckoning! In the 70’s I assisted demo of a chimney. Used a long steel cable. Drilled two holes and passed cable through. Attached both ends to a 977 cat. Pulling cables ends ripped the bricks till it tilted and collapsed. Hmmm! Watching this gave me the same nervous apprehension. Good watch.
We did our best and the majority of the demolition happened on the side where it fell. The people on the opposite side were “safe” as they could be. We had exit plans for all involved. Our main concern was making sure the excavator didn’t get tied up with the ladder or chute as it fell.
Keys we did have some people walking around, but there wasn’t a moment when we felt too unsafe. Maybe a little prayer went out, but it was okay in the end.
Hey Bill great to see you ,Daisy, and the bright 💐 flowers. Just like everyone else l have missed y😢u.... But very happy to see you are ok and moving forward! How blessed you are to have your brothers that are so willing to help you out❤ Give them a shoutout from us viewers. That bed looks amazing 👏 but l would imagine it taking quite sometime for you and your body to adjust to the new position your body is in....time will hopefully make you more comfortable. Daisy seemed a bit restless with the change but only to be expected. Bill all those new machines to get busy on!!!😂you won't have time to get bored!!😅 Keeping you in my prayers to stay close to our heavenly Father, you are right about our future going forward. Our God Jehovah (psalms 83:18)will not forsake us. He is watching and He knows the best time to intervene. May your keep getting stronger in your resolve to get and be healthy again. May your road ahead be smooth and flat for a while, and may the sun shine on your back.🌞 Till next time Bill. Love to you and Daisy...l am sure he is a true blessing 🙌 🙏 ❤
It had been not in use for 15 years or so. There was also eroding happening inside. We had sold the other two silos and decided since this farm would not be utilizing the silo in the future it would be better to tear it down then have it fall down on the barn later in life.
Not sure. It was my father in laws. We took down some blue metal ones that were sold. It might be hard to get a price because the concrete was removed time and material. I believe. Plus there were other concrete that was broken and thrown into an old manure pit. So hard to say.
That operator is so slow and putting himself and others in danger.plus what is with all the people just walking around, silo could have collapsed and go into wrong direction, kickback, come apart as it’s collapsing and throwing debris everywhere.not impressed with whole situation.just saying my opinion.
Actually the silage inside was eating away the concrete. The first side they started to take down was 4-5 inches thick while the last bit was closer to 3-4 inches. It also was eroding some of the rebar inside.
@st57prd He probably doesn't have a silo of his own to take down and video, so he hates on you for something to do! I'm almost 70 and worked on farm and in the woods logging, so I know that there are times when you just figure out a way, and do it. In hindsight maybe there's a better way, maybe even a cheaper way. But we do it our way, and it's done!! Let the haters, hate. They'll never be as happy as we are!!!
None professional ? he is making a hole in the wrong place he should be behind the lean so the tower pulls it's self over ? Unless your making a RUclips video 😊
Never said this is how you should. Just what we did. More precautions could have been made, but we made it on RUclips and not the local news. So all good.
The silo was actually built by my father in law. So it’s 30-40 years old. We moved operations from this farm to a different location and it meant the silos were not in use. Plus the manure pit ( which was older) was caving in. So it had to come down for safety reasons.
Premièrement seul les opérateurs et le coordinateur devrait être sur le site immédiat tout autres devrait être en arrière d'un cordon de sécurité ! C'est une job dangereuse et il ne sont sûrement pas dirigé par des pros...
Next time you just go to lap 499 and see who crosses the finishing line first. That’s every bit the learning experience. That you don’t appreciate the walk-up doesn’t do you credit.
Well hopefully not forgot. The video helps. Plus the many pictures over the years. I agree to some respects though. Sad to see it down after so many years.

Where the heck is this? I can't believe the amount of people that are walking through the site.
In the USA. Back woods and backyard.
Only the laundry lady knew how scared the jack hammer guy was
You can see in the other video I posted with the multiple different angles where his bucket got caught and dragged him a little. He was a little scared.
We tore a couple of them down a few years ago, just wrapped a cable around them and pulled it through with a dozer with the winch
Did you remove some of the concrete at the base or did you just pull?
@@st57prd i cannot see they just pulled it over,

Thanks. The silo was around 30-40 years. So served its purpose well.
Seen some made of brick come down, easy clean up. Concrete and rebar, will see if it comes down clean.
They were able to clean this up in less than 4 hours.
It's bad enough to be in the machine, but people walking next to it is a really bad idea
Ya know at first I was thinking oh relax, then as I watched I was thinking these people are … well, not smart…

Just call it what it is, it's just plane dumb walking and parking close to this operation.
Is there any asbestos in that concrete
@@JoeBlair-u6qdidnt matter if there was- nobody’s calling anyone to test-it! Why invite trouble?
“Hey…we’re working here to knock down a 40 ft silo, you need to keep those kids back at least 20 ft!”
Good afternoon, great job. Steve from Nb Canada
Thanks Steve!
Gotta question the sanity of adults that allow children to walk so close to a damaged silo
so many people wandering around way too close.
Keys we did have some people walking around, but there wasn’t a moment when we felt too unsafe. Maybe a little prayer went out, but it was okay in the end.
Great video, great job, very professional
Thanks
I used to demolish silos you can get hurt the way you do it make a s smiley an start in the middle of it going out each way be safe

So dangerous of it falling the wrong way !two machines and two lives !with dynamite it goes down ! No mater what way !
I would have loved dynamite. But the budget was pretty tight 😀
Guy in hoodie must be fast good job though
Outstanding!
Thank you kindly!
"You Sposed Ta Push It That Way"
LOL!!
Did the silo already have a lean before work started? it appears so.
No. It didn’t have a lean. Though the inside had eroded the concrete by several inches thinning out the strength of the interior.
I've seen the concrete silos last longer than the farmhouse and out buildings. Why teaar it down?
Because it wasn’t being used. Why’s it matter to you?🤡
It had been not in use for 15 years or so. There was also eroding happening inside. We had sold the other two silos and decided since this farm would not be utilizing the silo in the future it would be better to tear it down then have it fall down on the barn later in life.
Took so much work to build it... so easily destroyed!
what was your approximate cost for demo and clean up? We have a similar one to take down.
Not sure. It was my father in laws. We took down some blue metal ones that were sold. It might be hard to get a price because the concrete was removed time and material. I believe. Plus there were other concrete that was broken and thrown into an old manure pit. So hard to say.
Could of used a few sticks of dynommite it would of been faster and much much more cheaper !especily on a on farm land !
Definitely use a few sticks of dynamite cheeper and safer !light the fuse and run !!!
bravo ottimo lavoro soprattutto molta pazienza e bravura complimenti all'operator👋👍
Thank you
Graci

Completely understand. There was maybe a level of over confidence. 😁
Good show
Glad you enjoyed it
Well done!
Thanks!
A little primer cord would have been faster and therefore less expensive in demolishing this silo.
Looks like The silo was built well not to fall
Actually the silage inside was eating away the concrete. The first side they started to take down was 4-5 inches thick while the last bit was closer to 3-4 inches. It also was eroding some of the rebar inside.
Whomever owns those pickups were WAY too confident of a desired outcome.
We were not short on confidence.
Dumb to let people that close
Probably but in the end we were safe. No emergency calls had to go out.
Lekker gevaarlijk spelletjes 🫣
Very dangerous. Haha
Nice job didn’t go anywhere wrong, how tall was it
The silo was around 120ft.
@@st57prd Nice, taller than I thought it was
Them two excavator operators better look up power line or phone line up front above there heads hold up
It’s kind of a force perspective. They are further away than it looks.
What are Harpo ,curly and mo doing beside that digger when it’s working
Supervision?
@chrisstaylor8377 Larry was a Stooge. Harpo was a Marx Brother. ☮️
At least he didnt drop it in ma's rhubarb patch!
Haha. Most certainly.
Those guys walking around below that silo are not to smart If it falls on them you will need a shop vac to recover the remains
Wow that toke alot
You’re telling me.
20:40
Lighting up a cigarette now cuz that was better than sex
And I don't even smoke. Or have sex.
Haha. Thanks for the comment. I think….
Way too much people around th site...
We had two operators and then two people roaming. I agree. We probably should have had everybody back.
People and kids wondering around while this is going on Dumb
I don’t think when we got close to the actual topple any kids were close. I could have been mistaken. I was not close to the silo so I’m not sure.
Just like an aging men like me, even old towers go limp once in a while... 😔
Я думал, башня в воду упадёт.
As much as it was leaning, why not cut on the back side and let gravity do its job?? Heck of a lot safer
Some people aren’t enough to know that
More luck than judgment involved here. Saved me from going to the circus to see the clowns at work!
We could probably all fit in a single car. 😉

Could have been 21 1/2 minutes shorter.
Why not do this during the summer so you can sweat your brains out? 😅😅😅😅😅
22 mins you’ll never get back.
Well you could say that about anything. Traffic jam. Mowing the lawn. The examples are endless.
Just read the comments while watching ! 😊
Iv took many down thus is dangerous machines are to small
Too small!? What size do you use? Link?
Why are they being dismantled and destroyed?? They'll out survive the farm house and uncared barn

Excavators cost much more than a few sticks of dynamite and safer !
They do? In what state?
Cleanup, isle 3……

Yes it is a dangerous job. That would be a good idea. Next time we will do that. Thanks.
Save your time and eardrums, go to 20: 00 and be done.
I’ve uploaded a video that is just the crash if your interested. My son likes to watch all the machines as they hammer away. Yes it’s loud. Sorry.

Barely. Haha
Omg where uncle joe 🤷♂️
lol 😂
This had nothing but luck and stupidity written All over it.
Well organized luck and smart stupidity.
Risky business.
A waste of time till20:00 minutes
Lol Fred did it better
Twenty wasted minutes
Thanks for the watch anyways. I did upload two different videos as well. One of just the crash and a multi video one.
If you don't want to watch him peck at it, 20:00.
Correct. I did upload a shorter version. My kids like the demolition portion though.
And another land mark is gone and eventually forgotten.:(
