- Eureka Libra comparison with the Turin df64
These grinders are both amazing basically it’s ends up being a decision between speed and simplicity of workflow vs slightly worse design but better grind quality and end product. Both grinders I like a lot but I will say if Turin would make a df83 or df64 grind by weight option I would get rid of my Libra almost immediately. I even consider switching back to the sette 270wi but that grinder is just so loud

This is exactly where i am at…libra or df64 platform. Someone said you are spending 6-700 for the df64 including the ssp burrs and other mods, but its the platform you are buying into. Obviously they are completely different platforms. I gravitate towards mediums and darks, but i really like lights too.
Been thinking about doing that exact setup with the DF64 Gen 2, using the DF as my single-origin / experimentation grinder, then using the Libra for just standard espresso beans for milk drinks. Like the idea of a simple workflow for the early morning latte with breakfast and trying to keep up with grind sizes between the dark roast and the single origins
Hey Joe! Do you have a preference between the DF64 and the Sette 270? Cheers ☕️
I think Eureka needs to update their clump crushers. The Atom 75 & other expensive grinders in their lineup isn't that clumpy, but for a new grinder in their lineup, I'm surprised they didn't try to address this issue. I thought about the D64, and ultimately I concluded that even though the Eureka grinder can be a bit clumpy, I still love the tasty coffee I'm getting from it, and it's so easy to use and clean. WDT doesn't bother me too much; it relaxes me, but back to the DF64, I didn't think it would be a huge upgrade in taste, and I have seen RUclipsrs say the DF64 is only a minor upgrade when it comes to taste. It's harder to clean and calibrate; I also think Eureka grinders are much better built too.
I actually saw some channeling with the DF 64, and I didn’t really see any channeling with the Eureka grinder. However, all that matters is the taste for me personally.
Would the df 64 hold a Breville 54mm and a la Pavoni 51mm porter filter?
Out of the box no but I believe you can buy after market forks that would work
I actually found the extraction from the Libra to be more even and It seemed to come together more quickly than the DF64.
But what do I know.
After 3 years of single dose grinding, I'm looking forward to getting the Libra. The Libra has 55mm burrs and comparing them to 64mm SSP burrs is a bit of an apple to orange situation.
Yeah I agree with the simplicity of the libra. It’s possible you have an older model of the df64 or one without the upgraded ssp high uniformity burrs and that’s the difference we are seeing. I just wish that Turin and more companies in general would make grind by weight grinders it’s much simpler for the end user
hello ,in this DF64 there is SSP !, for espresso i imagine HU , what is the difference you felt comparing the Stock ITALMIL burrs?
It was definitely noticeable in the grinds being much more uniform but honestly the taste wasn’t a major difference maybe some clarity and mouth feel improvements but that’s about it. Really it just makes the dialing in process a bit easier
A lot of clumps from Eureka.
Sure does I wish very badly that the df64 would make a grind by weight option instead of a time based grind like they just released
Yea that was surprising, my Facile doesn't clump that bad and it only has 50mm vs 55mm burrs. Suppose the beans, humidity, etc. all play a role
lol great thing you mentioned one of them had SSP burrs right at the end, which really does not make this a fair comparison does it...
@@kulkulan223 well yes and no I’d say that the eureka libra once it’s been seasoned is actually really great I noticed less clumping over time
@@JoeyVaracalliyeah it’s a shame these great machines have been left out of all the great burr options, what a horrible decision. maybe the Single Dose Pro will be different if it ever hits the market…
@@kulkulan223 yeah I def agree on the size of the burrs
