Did this same hike in 1990. One of the creek crossings the water was close to chest high, had to cross then recross, get my dog, and carry her across. On the way back walked downstream some where the creek braided and it was much easier. It's mentioned below but there used to be a bridge over Canada creek on your way up to see the glacier. I guess it got washed out. The Slims River was much different then, from what I have read the flow of the river has changed due to the Glacier receeding. Saw a momma grizzly and her two cubs near the campground. Just found your channel, great video.
Nina is such a smart dog. My favorite part is how she attentively watches and gauges the situation (0:43) before determining the best way to cross the creek.
When it transitions to @8:20 wow that steep angle! I'm glad you found a travel companion for this hike because I have a hard time convincing my friends to do these types of things :D
Awesome hike! Thanks for sharing. Brings back memories! Kluane is amazing place, I did the Donjek glacier route 9 years ago. Those creek crossings are something else!
This is my home. The slims river trail is pronounced "uh-eye choo". Thank you for this beautiful video, hope you visit us again soon (when it is safe to do so)!!
Another thing to note is that the "glacier" you are looking at is actually TWO separate glaciers!! The one that veers off to the left is called the South Arm Glacier!! :)
Again, absolutely STUNNING scenery! Are you originally from BC? I'm American but lived in Southern Alberta for 8 years and East Kootenays for 2. I miss the West sooooo much!
If you ever go to Iceland (🇮🇸) it’s amazing there (I’m there right now) you can climb the highest peak there (havandalsnukur, 2119 meters high) nice video!😍❤️
Its incredible how small this channel is but how high quality the videos are. I have so many question for you! What is the tallest mountain you’ve climbed? What type of dog do you have? Any recommended hikes you have for the Banff -lake Louise area? Thanks!
lifeofluke Thank you very much will try! I find it very funny because you’ve pretty much have a video of each place I’ve hiked with my family. Just curious, Where are you from in Canada? And what software do you use to edit your video? When this Pandemic is over, you should try travelling to Colorado and climb Pikes peak. It’s quite the accomplishment! Try aswell doing Skoki in Lake Louise, it’s a must, especially packer’s pass on the trail!!!!!
Fyi, those goats are Dall Sheeps, they're protected and pretty rare. But that area of Kluane park (Sheep Mountain and surroundings) is the place to see them.
I can see how similar Dall sheep and mountain goats are, and how easy it would be to confuse them, but these are definitely goats. They have taller shoulders, their horns are black, shorter and only slightly curved, as opposed to lighter brown horns that fully curve in a circular direction towards the front of the Dall sheep. The goats here also have a shaggy beard which hangs down from their chin.
Your companion made a mistake crossing that second creek. She should not have buckled up her backpack, leaving it loose allows you to escape from it if you were knocked off your feet and were being carried downstream. Great video.
lifeofluke damn that’s truly inspiring man keep up the amazing videos really appreciate you putting so much time& work to bring us along for the adventure safe travels brother!

Wow, that was majestic!

She really is, and she can go all day long!
Oh wow. We have same that kinds of glaciers with same view near our 14th tallest mountain of the world #killer mountain or Fairy meadows. Love it ❤
Ya definitely, Pakistan is the country of glaciers!
🤯 wow! That view/timelapse at the top is INSANE! Nina showing you guys the easy way to cross the creek was too funny!

Those glaciers are incredible! Quite the adventure getting there but worth it to see the goats 🐐 🙌🏼

Sheesh, this is brutal. This is a national park? Only in name. The maintenance is wow.
Ya, I found in the north they leave the national parks more bare and almost completely in their natural state
Aweoms Luke

@@lifeofluke I love your videos! :) Thanks for sharing.
Dang the quality of these videos. Like in the beginning where the camera is focused on you and you can see the beautiful hills and trees!
Thanks Adriel!
You deserve so many more views man.
Amazing stuff. Canada is so fcking beautiful
I second that, our country is just too good
Again, absolutely STUNNING scenery! Are you originally from BC? I'm American but lived in Southern Alberta for 8 years and East Kootenays for 2. I miss the West sooooo much!
I'm originally from Ontario. I absolutely love the west and will not move back east ever!
woah that view is worth the slog. Yukon style glacier - bloody fucking huge.
Usually drive through from Southeast Ak. up to Anchorage once a year at least, through the Kluane region and much more, not this year though!
I"m sure its in the comments somewhere....but what kind of dog is Nina? Great video again. Love your channel.
Thanks! Nina is a border collie and kelpie mix
I need to move back to the west coast asap! I wonder what you would do if you were forced to live in Toronto, too flat over here lol..
If you ever go to Iceland (🇮🇸) it’s amazing there (I’m there right now) you can climb the highest peak there (havandalsnukur, 2119 meters high) nice video!😍❤️
I would love to do that
Its incredible how small this channel is but how high quality the videos are. I have so many question for you! What is the tallest mountain you’ve climbed? What type of dog do you have? Any recommended hikes you have for the Banff -lake Louise area? Thanks!
Tallest would be Mt Temple. Nina is a border collie-Kelpie mix. Rockbound lake is a great trail

oh cool your friend had a caribou beer toque on, That Creek crossing would have sucked
Hey my friend, I hope you will stay safe in this pandemic situation.
thanks, same to you

That's a good idea, we didn't think of it at the time
Hey Luke was wondering how long it took you to build your tiny house super interested in building one!
2 months while working full time
lifeofluke damn that’s truly inspiring man keep up the amazing videos really appreciate you putting so much time& work to bring us along for the adventure safe travels brother!
This park seems nice but have you ever heard of pinafore?
I'm working my way up to that fine specimen
The lake crossing is pretty gnarly I've heard
How did Nina manage across the larger Creek crossings? Did you carry her over?
Ya she jumped the smaller ones and I had to double back and do the larger ones twice to carry her across
What camera do you use to film? Whats your lens?
I use a song a7s, sony 55mm f1.8, sigma 14mm f1.8, and canon 300mm f4
Nina showed those creeks who's boss.
haha, she sure did
Hiking would be more enjoyable if I could do it in my underpants. Loving your vids.
haha I don't see why you can't... at least the bugs will love it
