Xb8 is garbage it can't handle playing BDO on Xbox series X. If you are not going over 2gbs there is not point. If u just surfing the net it's ok. But it has the worst cooling system I've ever seen. I had to keep a extra portable fan on top of it
xB7 is where its at for sure

My XB8 arrives today. I hope it provides better range because my MacBook M1 loses WiFi connection everyday for a few seconds multiple times a day. All my other devices are fine though. I’ll keep the XB7 around until I can confirm the XB8 is actually a better option for my current setup. My XB7 averages 750+ mbps on my iPhone and MacBook on the 1.2 Gb plan.

@@mikey_mike The XB8 has been great. It works much better in my house compared to the XB7 which lost connection everyday. I haven't lost connection with the XB8 since I installed it that day. The speed is faster as well according to several speed tests I’ve used but I can’t really tell the difference with normal usage between the two gateways.

@@MsG110 I was on XB6 for over 5 years no problems. XB7 and XB8 have given me nothing but problems over WiFi. Two XB8 have the same issues with no resolution. XB7 had awful Coax transmit issues while the XB8 wifi cannot seam to work in the slightest.
You're getting over 1200 mbps? I didn't know they offered that speed.
It's been around for a few years now and also based on your location. I get around 1400mbs. And thinking about switching over to fiber next year to reach 5000mbs

My XB7 is terrible. I’m getting the XB8 soon, so I’m excited for it. I really hope it fixes my laggy issues! I have the 1200/200 plan, and my internet won’t even reach half of that. I really think they sent me a faulty router 😅

Great Video! And thanks for the tip on how to upgrade. The blazing speed of Xfinity gateways is unbeatable, and their expansive signal range leaves all other in its wake. If you have lousy signal areas, use the xFi Pods. I get WiFi speeds wirelessly on average of 350 Mbps. With wire, I'm getting, on average, about 700 to 900 Mbps.

There is a red line or an orange line that will give you the 1.2 GB but you need 2.5 gigabit Ethernet card to be able to get the 1.2 gigs is that red and orange line I have one
the devices with the ethernet cable definitely kept the speed up
The red line simply indicates the input signal port when the modem is installed in a PON network. Any port will give you max thruput
I got the XB-8 T, which is the NEWEST gateway they got! I honestly don't see the point in getting 1.2 Gbps. Maybe because I live by myself, so it ain't that serious.😆But I got it anyway for so-called futureproofing.

I have the XB8 and it’s worked pretty good but I noticed the LED on the front is way too bright for a dark room and there’s no way to adjust the brightness. I heard the XB7 has a very similar issue.

Thanks for your time. The video is amazing and very educational , however you mention the speed that you pay for 1200 and you only get 900+,,it is your ethernet card in the computer , y need an 2.5. And up to receive the real speed.
I pay for 1200 and I got 1,300+, and sometimes 1400 + I can prove to you because my speed test my son plays with me COD, and he got a 10g card installed on his computer, and he also got 117% over the speed.

@@BsvaBoss have 1000 mbps as well but i still pull 1.6 on my XB7, (paying for 1.5) it also has to do with how many people in your neighborhood are on the 5g/10g network channel. Wi-Fi 6e is just slightly better than 6 non e.
(My motherboard though is z690 MEG with dual Ethernet, pretty much all high end z690's come with wifi 6e/2.5g network cards now)

Thanks for uploading this. I get stranger download/upload speeds that you on the XB7. Heh, my download fluxuates from 85 mb to 95 mb while my upload is around 90 mb. I'm plan to purchase a cat 6 cable today so I wonder if it'll make much of a difference. However, I will get the XB8 since it supports 6gb connection.
The xb8 is crazy fast. I get 1.2+ sometimes 1.3gbps on either net. I run a cat 8 cable. Also on my 6GHz I get 700 - 800 mbps....
Xb8 is crap for competitive online gaming with action and reactionary instant combat. I've brought 3 back in the last month for over heating. The xb7 stays cooler

Interesting. My X-finity XB7-T gives me about half the download speed, and almost double your upload speed.
I imagine the upload is limited based on how many subscribers are in the area you live in. The router improvements of a triband (6Ghz) signal and the increased range should make an upgrade worth the time and effort to put a call in.

I know the specs for XB8 says it is capable of multigig but does that mean also upload speed? Often a modem has less upload capability and down. I heard in some parts of the USA Xfinity has 6 gig up and down but can the modem keep up with uploads time will tell. The ports top out at 2.5Gb.
Just found out I'm supposed to be getting 200 upload, but only get up to 40, I have the Xb8.

XB8 is garbage if u are playing competitive action based gaming. Keep the XB7, the only difference is xb8 is the wifi

Im still using the xb3 because when i used to work at comcast as a tech a few years ago the xb6 was the new hi tech modem on the block but its range lacked compared to the xb3. But i think it is time to make an update as i think my xb3 is in need of retirement. Does anybody have range issues with these newer modems after the xb6?
I got the xb8 and that modem is hot garbage. The range is garbage. I traded it back for the xb7. Don’t waste your time with the xb8 if you already have the xb7.

@@deebrown5744 The problem was with the reach of the modem. When I got the new modem it wasn't reaching as far as it used to. So I returned it for the old modem and then the problem was solved. Got any tips, advise?

So i had the XB3...it was ok...BUT..now this month my plan went up..i had the 200mbps...so i saw they had a deal for the 400Mbps...but said i need a new Modem..but it was the XB6..i thought it was new..but NOPE..my buddy got a new modem a couple weeks ago..but his looked different..so i looked it up and looked like the XB7...so i chatted with xfinity..they said they give the modem with the plan...but they said i could get the XB7...but inwas looking and say the XB8..so i asked..and they said i can get that...this XB6 i got Today is better then the XB3...I had to move my man cave stuff in the Attic..the XB3 wasnt good up here..this XB6 is def better range..but yes cant wait to get the XB8...should be even better.

I have Xfinity too but I got the 450mbps per second. I have the Xb7 rn. It keeps getting packet burst and losses connection everyday. Hopefully I can upgrade this cuz it’s horrible
I have the 1.2gb plan but cannot ever get over 500mbs down. My ping on the ps5 is fine. for an hour. then it goes to shit every 5 seconds.
also you need to have service with xfinity for 3 years to get a free upgrade to the xb8

Yeah just buy a modem instead of renting one. Just get like any modem, but preferably the higher-end ones wither better security against cyberattacks and stuff.

No that re line just just indicates that’s the input when the modem is set up in a PON network

I got the xb8 and my speed was the same as when I was on the 100mb plan and I upgraded to the gigabyte plan and my wifi drops all the time so not impressed with it

It’s a rip off the old box would reach out far it’s a scam they lower the signal expansion just so you can purchase the pod stuff to help boost your signal

Don't get the XB8, it is a piece of crap, specs are alright but it's hardware is unreliable junk! The updated version of the XB7 is just as good in specs and is built way better.
I went from thre xb7 to the xb8 and it barely lasted a year. I got the new updated version of the xb7 and wow, I couldn't believe how much better it was. That got me to thinking: Why would they redo and upgrade an older version, when they have the xb8?? Talked to one of their techs and he's been replacing xb8's that are not even 6 months old! The us no reason ti go for the xb8 unless your really going to try to connect 100 wifi devices, which will never work anyway! 100 devices...... hahaha, yeah right!
