This movie deserves so much more attention. Paula is one of my favorite antagonists. She’s so funny!
"Who the hell is Crumpy?"
This movie was based on the novel "Wild pork and Watercress" by author, outdoorsman and raconteur Barry Crump. In the early 90s he famously starred in multiple TV commercials for Toyota Utes (AKA Utility Vehicles, what North Americans call pick up trucks.) The fact that Rhys Darby's ute is called Crumpy is a call back to the author and his public persona of "A good, keen bloke"

Boy is my favorite Taika film, highly recommend
I thought this was the Werewolf spin off of WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS so I spent the whole movie waiting for the kid to change into a werewolf lol

I'm going to sound like I am tooting my own horn here, but I only say that to highlight my comment....I am an artistic and intelligent human and I ABSOLUTELY loved this movie. I have felt such pain and such joy in my life and realized that peace is made in the quiet choices and this movie highlighted this so much. What a fantastic movie!!

Rachel House/ Paula was also in Thor: Ragnarok, she hated Valkyrie and worked for the Grandmaster lol
Great film to react to! It was the first Taika Waititi film I ever watched and in some ways I still think it’s his best film. He can do good work on big blockbuster franchises like Star Wars and Marvel but I personally think Taika does a better job with smaller and solo films like this and Jojo Rabbit
I've loved Taika from the jump (just part of being an NZer, I guess), but I think recent years have shown that being restricted by budget and resources is the best, most organic way to reign him in and keep things in the sweet spot. Let him run wild to do whatever he wants without restrictions really messes with his focus.

I actually got to see this movie in theaters. I heard it was directed by the guy they got to direct the third Thor movie, so I decided to see it. It remains one of my favorite movies to this day.

Love this film, Taika Waititi the director just gets amazing performances from Kids, I would strongly recommend the Film “Boy”. Amazing, and of course his huge film “jojo Rabbit, what a film that is
